i like how the show executed the 'Dracarys' scene
disappointed with the HoTU, but i didn't mind how they simplified Qarth
Tywin/Arya was good Cersei/Robert Olenna/Tywin/Varys

I'm liking the condensing of AFFC and ADWD, something the books desperately needed. Most everypne has mentioned changes I liked, like aging the characters up, removing the abundance of Greyjoy POV. getting rid of the over the top descriptions, such as blue hair and gold tooth. Oy!

In light of the recent episode, I like the edition of Shireen teaching Gilly to read and their scenes together. So sweet.

The culling (hopefully permanent) of Victarion and Euron and Aeron, I enjoy Aeron's chapters in the books, but they would make piss poor TV. And Victarion is exceptionally dull. Euron has potential to be a great antagonist, but I think there are enough antagonists already for him to be cut

Changing "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" to "The Lannisters send their regards". I just think that it feels more powerful than the book one and it just sounds better. This might also be a subtle hint that LSH is cut.

I appreciated the show cutting Sansa tattling to Cersei and Cat telling Jon it should have been you in s1, I don't think grrm intended either moment to be character-defining.

The GA would've crucified Sansa even more if they had left that bit in. I hated it in the books, though I grew to like Sansa quite a bit after CoK.

Shireen teaching Davos to read instead of boring not-a-character Maester whatever his name is.
I know I'm in the minority but I liked that the valonqar was left out of the prophecy. It would have made Cersei's eventual death less of a shock, just like if they had had Dany see the things she sees in the House of the Undying in the books.

I think Book 1 Sansa was pretty underdeveloped and her big moment there wasn't really supported. In one chapter she'd forgiven Joffrey for Lady's death but not Cersei, by the next she thinks Cersei's great again as if nothing happened. Anyway, I also like what the show's done with Meereen so far, with Mossador and Grey Worm and "Kill the Masters!". Giving the slaves agency in their own freedom and a voice in the sl is a step up from having a Slaver's Bay crusade entirely from the perspective of foreigners. Theon's story in s2 was one of my faves, having him kill Ser Rodrik in front of Bran and Rickon made for a great scene.

Tyrion, Bronn, Shae and - Tysha.
It was so sad. The whole drinking game was really pretty sad actually, but Tyrion's words and facial expression - wonderfully acted. And incredibly sad.
I wanted to slap Shae for her rather blunt "You should have known she was a whore." Tyrion's so vulnerable in that scene.

Sansa's Season 5 arc so far. In a way, yes. I quite agree. Let's see if she's learnt to be a player rather than a pawn.

Oh another change I'm happy with, they've made Tyrion less of an insufferable dolt for his ADWD arc. There were times when reading his chapter that I wanted to scream, when will this be over!

Definitely. DWD Tyrion felt so different from the Tyrion we got to know before then. The show balances his depression with humor well.

I forgot to mention these two but I thought the show was very smart in not including these things. I never found those moments to be character defining for either one of those characters. I have to also agree with toning down Tyrion's "Poor Me!" act this season versus his book self.

As much as I enjoyed Vargo Hoat my favorite change/original character would have to be Locke. From his tormenting of Jaime, to his defense of bears, to his brief bromance with Jon Snow, every time Locke was on screen was pure entertainment.
The Ramsay and Theon shaving scene was a great way to elucidate the complete control Ramsay has over Theon after the transformation. I pondered how difficult it would be to translate that storyline considering Reek was such an internal character in the books. They really nailed it with that scene, which I found to be extremely tense thanks to the acting of all actors involved, and Locke lurking in the background! "Who the fuck's Jon Snow?"
I know of one poster that will hate me for this, but I'm relieved at the omission of Aegon, which was probably my least favorite plot development of the books. It felt like a late and cheap twist thanks to the restructuring of the books and slowed Tyrion's storyline down in book 5.
White Walker scene in Season 4.4, it was so well directed and it's just a good decision to keep them in the story more directly than the books did.

I think my favorite change (or addition) will always be Ned saying "Baelor" to Yoren to indicate where Arya was

Oh boy, where to start?
Fewer random King's Landing courtiers Less ridiculous appearances No fools Ageing up the kids None of Tyrion's awesome fighting skills at Blackwater which made no sense. No Wildlings climbing the wall with a 700 foot ladder No Wildlings hitting people with arrows from 700 feet down Arya and Tywin Robert Theon being more sympathetic Cersei being less cartoonish Fewer prophecies Tommen being aged up No Aegon No "I'm looking for a maid of three and ten" No Darkstar No Quentyn No extra Greyjoys or Kingsmoot Sansa actually doing something Margaery is an actual character Tywin is superior More Arya and the Hound No "Where do Whores Go" NO LADY STONEHEART (+1000000 points for this one D&D)
I'm sure there's more but my mind is going blank right now
