Lots of terrible things happen to characters on this show. Like, awful things. And to the female characters too. Talisa got stabbed repeatedly in her pregnant belly before bleeding out on the floor. Catelyn got her throat slit after watching her son die in front of her. Shae was strangled. Ros got hung up and had a bunch of arrows put through her until she died. Tansy got hunted down in the woods by a pack of dogs. And that's just some of the women. Theon got his dick cut off. People have been burned alive (by dragons and on the stake), had their heads chopped off, been decapitated, watched babies get their throat slit, strangled etc. Pretty nasty shit and you're more or less good for at least one of these things every episode. I'm not sure why the only time we can have a segment of the fanbase rear up in horror, write essays and rage all over the show producers is when there is even a hint of sexual violence that occurs. Like everything else is a-ok but this is the tipping point? It's awful and shitty for the character to endure but so are the other million awful and shitty things that happen to characters on this show. Be consistent in your raging.

Back on topic then. I don't know whether or not the scene with the dragons in this episode is teasing Dany descending into madness or not. I know a lot of fans have speculated over this possability. Is Dany going mad a possability? I know a lot of people would rile up over it, and it would make good tv, showing how even a good person can fall, but would there be any real point in this.

It was a purely reactionary response to Barristan's death. I don't think she regretted it, but I don't think it's necessarily something she's going to repeat.

I thought she'd go mad back when I just watched the show. There are several really great depictions of a character starting out good and falling and several really bad ones. So it could work, but I doubt they'll do it. Dany will probably be more dark by the time she returns to Westeros. Hell, she's already portrayed as dark now. From TWOIAF, it sounds like Aerys kind of had this happen rather than starting out as a bad apple.

She knows the masters are behind this or are at least involved so she's not just going to let them go unpunished. I don't necessarily agree with the method she chose but she had to do something. I think her decision to open the pits and marry Hizdahr showed the burning was a reaction more than anything.

I just remember a comment from the Grey worm actor, who's name escapes me atm, on thronecast saying he could see Danaerys going mad. I dunno if thats because he knows about the theory and he was misleading fans, or if he knows (obviously, duh) what happens later on in the series. But tbh I doubt an actor would talk about a plot twist that big if it was gonna be a major factor in the upcoming story.

A lot of Dany's ruling issues go away once she goes to Westeros because that's a place where she isn't trying to abolish their way of life and in the process, upend their main economic means to flourish. Seriously, the "let's end slavery" message in the cities that depend on slavery to function probably wasn't a well thought out plan and is why she'll essentially have to torch the city and leave it to its own fate when she heads to Westeros.
