How will they reveal Jon's parentage on the show? In the books, we'll probably see Howland Reed revealing the truth to Jon or someone else. Will we have Howland on the show? If not, who will tell the truth to Jon?

In the books, no, but I can see them revealing it via Meera in the show because she's already established and if she did happen to know, it wouldn't be some kind of earth-shattering revelation. @severus: IKR? Lol. It's even more amusing when you consider that we all already know the answer haha. |

The one tiny speck of doubt I've always had in my mind about that is from years and years ago, long before the HBO series was even thought of, Paris (now Mrs. GRRM) used to post at Westeros--someone asked her something about why is the parentage being kept such a big secret when we all already know that R+L=J. And her response was, in effect: 'Haha, do you guys really think George would be that obvious?' Of course, we all went bonkers pelting her with questions, but that was the last she ever said about it, and quit posting altogether afterward. |

Oh what an interesting tidbit of history there, I didn't know about that! That is maddening because you could take that comment either way and go crazy wondering what she meant by that! George probably banished her from the boards after that for getting too snarky with fans and too close to the truth!  This is a great topic I've often wondered about as well because it doesn't look like Howland Reed will be a show character especially now that they killed off Jojen and the Bran story is now on hiatus.  Considering he is the only living person to have been there at the tower of Joy to have witnessed what really happened, they're probably going to go another route altogether. Something I noticed (I've watched all 4 leaked episodes so below is a huge spoiler if you haven't seen them): Has anyone else noticed how many times they talked about Rhaegar in the last couple episodes? With such a big focus on storytelling about him from Barriston, and Littlefinger in particular, I have to wonder if they aren't setting the stage for some big reveal by giving the audience a lot of background about Rhaegar's true character and intentions with Lyanna ... especially that scene in the crypt at her statue. The look Littlefinger gave Sansa when she said Rhaegar kidnapped and raped her aunt was really intense and almost as if he wanted to tell her something different but he refrained. That was super telling IMO! But anyways - my vote goes for a "weir-net" vision for Bran in season 6. But I have no idea how that would then become legit public knowledge for Jon or anyone else since a flashback to the past seen by a tree-kid isn't probably going to work any better than Brienne's claim of a "shadow" with the face of Stannis killing Renly. No one's gonna believe that. |

I highly doubt Howland Reed makes the show. Paris's comment from back in the day is interesting. Yeah, I don't think it's been obvious to many book readers who do not use/have access to the various forums/threads/You-Tube. At least it sure wasn't obvious to me - it was only when I learned of the forums and picked up a reference there that I went back to to Ned's dream just before regaining consciousness and Meera's telling Bran of the crannogman and the mystery knight that I began to be pretty much convinced. And so interesting about Paris's early involvement. Thanks for that bit, iheartseverus! |

i could see them doing another flashback at the start of season 6 showing the tower of joy. with Lyanna, Ned, Howland Reed and some Kingsguard. Then at the end Lyanna will call the baby Jon and end with 'promise me'. That would be amazing. I could also see them using Bran to look back into this time and essentially let it flow like a flashback. because i think jon will get stabbed this season |

It's gotta happen, sometime, HBO please! If just for the sake of my peace of mind!! |

Considering he is the only living person to have been there at the tower of Joy to have witnessed what really happened, they're probably going to go another route altogether.
