I think Tyrion is a Targ too. And I think he will find out when his dragon suddenly kneels to him instead of roasting him. Tyrion Targaryen is... not my favourite theory Ugh... How much I saw this thrown around on Westeros... And George said he hated fan fiction. I think having Bran 'green see' Ned, maybe telling Benjen (if, as people theorise that Benjen knowing is true) then that would work, and also give a chance for Mawle and Bean to reprise their roles, and even hype up Benjen's likely return. You don't have a guy go missing for six series and still be teased as out there without at least giving his story an ending. And if he does come back, it would be a little reminder to fans of the show, who lost track of him, just who he is. Plus people would wanna see Sean Bean on game of thrones again. Sean Bean wants to see Sean Bean on game of thrones again. HBO making this happen would be a massive seller for the story in general, and just be an awesome scene since these guys only had one scene together.Benjen and Eddard spilling the R+L beans? I wanna see this!

Tyrion Targaryen just sounds weird.
I think Dany is AA and will ride Drogon, Jon is the Prince who was promised and will ride Viserion, and Bran is the stallion who will warg Rhaegal.

Besides, I think it's cooler that Tywin's true son and heir, the one child who really inherited his smarts and cunning is ironically the one he hated, while Jaime didn't want to inherit anything from Tywin.

(No, I don't support Tyrion Targaryen theories) Indeed. I got flamed for R+L=J and accused of being a fan fiction writer and an idiot circa 2002. I'm so hipster. I didn't see Tywin's shit talk to Tyrion as Tyrion Targaryen clues. I didn't see that at all until ADWD, and then all the sudden there were clues galore that felt very intentional to me: all his talk of dragons and dragon dreams got my antennae up. Then Barristan confirmed that something went down between Aerys and Johanna and that Aerys had a thing for her before she ever married Tywin. When Barristan speaks, I listen. That's when I started noticing all the similarities between Jon, Dany, and Tyrion. They're all outcasts, members of powerful families, but alone in the world. Their mothers all died in child birth. They all killed their first loves. They all care about the small folk and generally do not fit into a medieval world view.

Edit: I do realize that "They all killed their first loves." is only true in the TV show. I think that might have been one of the reasons D&D made that change.

Yeah, I obviously haven't thought through my wording of this part of my "evidence." I guess it's more that I feel that they all feel responsible for the deaths.

Oh I do love all the clues and I appreciate you re-posting them for those who may not have ever read any of the Tyrion theories. I can agree there are some good (but subtle) hints that could indicate it, but overall, it has just never resounded with me the way Jon's parentage theory has over the years. I don't know if it's my impression of Tyrion's personality, or some sort of subconscious prejudice because he's grown up a Lannister and a dwarf - but I have a harder time seeing him be one of the dragon riders, even if he were a Targaryen. Someone else said it felt 'silly' to think of him sitting on a Dragon. But that was one of the clues I remember, how he dreamed of it as a child because it would free him from the difficult walking and pain he suffered in his stunted legs if he could ride a dragon instead ... no longer would he be a small dwarf beneath everyone else. Aww.

Honestly, the only negative clue for Jon's Targaryan parentage for me is that I have a hard time picturing him on a dragon. He's so icy wolfie icy.
But I'm still convinced he's a Targ.

Agreed, Jon's personality doesn't seem dragon-like at all. I sometimes wondered if maybe he'd warg into a dragon rather than ride one - but they've done absolutely nothing with his warg abilities on the show so I guess that's out for at least that side of things. It's a shame really - the warging has been eliminated in all but Bran - is that because he's the only one who will use it extensively for the "End-game" and therefore the show creators just decided to cut it altogether for everyone else? Jon's struggle with his warging powers was a part of his growth as a character in the books, same with Arya. Honestly though, who else have we got left that's even a potential candidate for dragons on the show? Pretty much no one other than Dany of course. Maybe the other two dragons never actually get ridden? That can't be right! All the three headed dragon prophecies ... blargh.

Reading these thoughts and theories takes me back to the early book-only days at Westeros.org. The R+L=J topic was the topic. It would take only days for a thread to reach length, close and open again in a new version. While all this was going on, there was one guy there who was convinced that Ned and Ashara Dayne were Jon's parents. He made a good case, but had this flaming habit--and for some reason he attached himself to me. Every time I'd post anything that had the names Lyanna or Rhaegar in the post, he'd quote me and change my words to Ashara and Ned. Even when others would quote one of my posts, he'd then quote them and again change my words to Ashara and Ned. Drove me mad!!! It got to the point that people would start arguing with me about why I believed A+N=J, because you'd see pages and pages where he had quoted me and changed my words. I sent him dozens of raging PMs about it, but the guy was obsessed, wouldn't stop. Yesteryear's version of today's Poete Laureate, I guess. How infuriating! How asinine! (But I'm also kind of giggling. What a child!)

^ And he was otherwise a nice young man from Arizona--I helped him get a photo calendar published, exchanged many PMs about publishing-on-demand, etc. It seemed he sincerely could not understand my upset at his changing my words, kept saying 'but your original post is still there!' And I be like 'Yes, but its 4 pages back and everything I said since then, you've changed!!' He'd be all apologetic, want to be friends, and the next day I'd look and all my posts were changed again. Go figure the internet!!!
