I'd say this was worse than Home but still better than the premiere.

Tyrion/Missandei/Grey Worm scene was painfully dull and slow. Even Peter couldn't salvage that one. Yeah I think they could have utilized that small amount of time in another storyline. I think that was the worst scene in a long time. Godawful.

9, I actually really loved it. +++ Kit's naked butt ++ RIP Olly + Sam and Gilly +++ Kit's naked butt + Tommen / High Sparrow scene was great, and that was some damn fine acting from Dean-Charles Chapman +++ Tower of Joy, I wish they hadn't split the scene in two, but the fighting choreography was absolutely breathtaking and Lyanna's screams sent chills down my spine +++ Kit's naked butt ++ Arya's training montage + Dany's scene was ... good. -- Tyrion's scene was pretty awful - the rest of KL was a bit dull and I hate to see Jaime and Cersei teaming up like that --- I already hate where they're going with Osha and Rickon, I don't want to see this, and I know it's Game of Thrones and that's just what happens on this show, but I'm getting sick of it, ngl. Also fuck you so hard Show!Smalljon. RIP Book!Smalljon. I was a bit weirded out by Jon giggling and making jokes like two seconds after he was brought back from the dead. This was still the same old Jon, pretty much, and I hope we'll see a change in his character in future episodes. Showing him be all conflicted and sad about hanging the mutineers, not sure how I feel about that.

I don't think he gives a damn about the loophole, either. That's just fans' speculation. He abandoned post because he simply felt like it.

I felt pretty iffy about it after the first watch because some of the odd pacing and some bitterness over Shaggy dying (as the owner of a black dog myself, that bugs me on a personal level) but after a rewatch I went with a nine. The bits that were strongest were the best of the season yet imo even though there were stupid bits like Tyrion's small talk dithering. The bits that worked, the Smalljon intro, Varys's scene, the ToJ fight and everything CB though merit that high a rating imho.

It's not the most cohesive episode, but some of its individual parts may be the season's greatest so far, I agree.

I was so sure we would see some master Oathbreaking Freys! Oh well. Other interesting things: 1. Meereen femme fatale was back. That was a nice touch and she did a good job I thought. 2. Tyrion trying to get to know Misandei and Grey Worm. Ha! The struggle for people who were never allowed to be themselves or talk freely to converse with someone like Tyrion. 3. Interesting ending....wondering how they will play that. Where does Jon think he is going? 4. Tommen begins his conversion. Such a sweet maleable boy. 5. Poor Rickon. Shaggydog is dead! So much for Umber loyalty. 6. Small council dynamics....Jaime and Cersei have a problem. Nice to see Olenna back, though surprised she was in this scene.

I think Smalljon pulling a Wes Anderson will piss you off plenty.

I think once Ned decided he was going with the lie that Jon was his son, he was just going to go all the way. let people believe what they wanted to believe because this helped him cover his biggest lie, Jon. I think Ned lied about how Howland saved his life to protect Howland's reputation. And like you said, once he lied about Jon, it probably was easier to not be clear as to how Arthur Dayne died. I do believe that Ned probably really thought Lyanna was raped (unless ToJ gives a part 2 that is more clear than what the conversation was in the books) and therefore that's why Sansa believes it. But if Ned never talked about her(as Sansa and Bran both noted)...did the kids hear that from him...or someone else? It is just simply a matter of Lyanna being raped being the official story of the Kingdoms as long as King Robert was alive, because that is what Robert wanted to believe, and would have punnished anyone who contradicted him. Ned kept quiet for many reasons; Jon, friendship with Robert, and apparently guilt over Arthur's and possibly Ashara's deaths.

But then I'm not making countdowns and having to change their names and sizes...

It was definitely the weakest of the season for me. Don't think a rewatch is going to change that.
