I don’t really get why S2 get the hate than it deserves.
Like yeah the plot became convoluted and some parts are cheap, but I don’t t think it’s that bad as people make out to be.

I liked season two, not as much as the first, but I still enjoyed it.
My main issue is that it felt like the writers were going out of their way to confuse the audience. Like with the unnecessary split timeline and the final scene. But there were definitely some great character moments in there too; I certainly didn't hate it.
I'm gonna miss the Western aesthetic of the first two seasons, but I'm interested to see where this third season goes.

need to rewatch (or just read my reactions earlier in this thread) but i'm pretty sure i thought season 2 was kind of confusing and a little too abstract. like, to this day, i don't know what that big library scene in the finale was all about.

I'm glad they've not totally abandoned the park and we'll still get to see it.
And even more glad that Maeve is back!

So excited!
Guess Maeve has been returned to a new WW2 themed park.
Can’t wait.

The budget looks bigger than ever.
Glad Maeve is back to kick ass.
HBO is really taking the spotlight with this, Watchman, and His Dark Materials.

so halfway thru, how are we feeling?
i really, really like it. dolores is going after the creepy big brother hive mind thing to cripple the human race (i think). i love love love the notion of her killing people and replacing them with robots that are loyal to her. but i also think it was a smart choice by the writers to actually give her human allies as well. dolores' only contact with the human race up to this point has been the filthy rich douchebags that come to westworld and terrorize her, so widening her perspective to see the more downtrodden people of the real world is just good writing. i think she identifies with caleb a lot more than she cares to admit.
waiting until charlotte hale was already dead to give her any sort of significant character development is such a westworld thing to do, and i totally loved it. same with stubbs. he was always just kinda there in the first two seasons, but now he's got more of a personality and an actual role in the story. now it makes sense that so much crazy shit went down with him overseeing the park, he was lowkey letting it happen.
maeve and serac's little alliance won't last. he's using her as a weapon in exchange for sending her to robot paradise, but i suspect that's not what she wants anymore. i wouldn't be shocked if she betrayed him in the end, and/or vice versa.
i have no idea what's going on with william.
my biggest takeaway from this season so far is definitely the worldbuilding that is taking place in each episode. i am obsessed with futuristic aesthetics in general, so this is like a dream for me. clearly, this is some sort of post-war civilization we're seeing, as paris was destroyed in some sort of attack at some point in the past. i like how exaggeratedly pompous the wealthy elite is portrayed as, with the engineered dreams and the drugs and the masked sex parties. likewise, the criminal underworld is cool. i think the notion of a "tinder but for crime" app is hilarious. the technology is crazy but believable, i feel like everything we're seeing is just an exaggerated version of something that already exists. it's definitely meant to be a mirror to the real world.
