I gave it a 9 because I think the Arya scene was too repetitive from last week. Also I'm still confused as to why Davos wanted to bring back Jon. Not enough explanation. Plus the hounds are still missing. However these points are very minor and the rest was so awesome that it was a 9.

My other half thought the Ramsey part was inspired and it has given him more ideas of how to insult people (no he won't kill them). He also thought the Mountain scenes were brilliant. He likes blood and guts stuff. He thought Wun Wun was awesome. He wants Jon to come back darker and kill Olly very slowly. Maybe a one day crash course at the Ramsey Bolton school of flaying. He also thinks Euron has the potential to be a very cool character.
He said it was the best episode he'd seen for a very long time. He loved Hardhome, but only the section where they are at Hardhome, not the full episode.

Godspeed you, Oh brave Lady. Do it. For the good of the realm. I have a weapon, no worries I applaud your bravery and will pray to the old gods and the new for your safety.

What an awesome title name. I'm loving it. It has an eeriness and it feels a bit spooky.

Someone has to report what happened to Roose and Ramsey, so I presume it must be the dog handler who ran off and will be the one to tell them.

I still think it is her loss of faith. There is a hint to it in the scene. Before she takes the necklace off she is rubbing her hands in front of the fire, this symbolises that she is cold. To me that suggests that it is the first sign to her that the warmth from the Lord of Light has gone out inside of her. The removal of the necklace is the confirmation that she now needs glamours to look young, her faith alone won't work. I think this has been done intentionally for people to question why she looks old now when she didn't look old the last time it was removed. Is it the her faith or is it the potions?
I don't think we'll get an explanation outside of George doesn't say exactly how the magic works, they can't give that information away either.

GUYS. Carice Van Houten tweeted a picture of herself as Melisandre. It's behind the scenes, she's holding a water bottle and smiling at the camera. The interesting part is that it looks to me that Brienne/Gwendoline is sitting next to her. The arm has the same mail I think. Also, I'm on my phone and don't know how to post pictures. You mean this? /photo/1 That looks like Sansa's dress behind.

They can't leave the arrival to Castle Black much later than episode 2. Mel left on the same day as Sansa and arrived there in season 5. However, they now at least have horses to speed up the journey.

So it just occurred to me how happy Jon is going to be that he turned Mel down if he ever sees her true form. When he wakes up I don't think he'll turn her down. And the audience will be saying "Don't do it. It's grosser than Oberyn's head squashing moment."

This is great news, I like the two things in the same episode idea. Didn't we speculate last week that it might be the case with the images of Bran and Bloodraven and the background being the same distinctly colored rocks as where TOJ was filmed? I didn't follow that exactly but took it to mean we had evidence those images were from early in the season if not episode 1 right? Bran having a vision of TOJ makes more sense early, before Jon's resurrected. The suspicions were there, but it was like, nah, we have it on good authority that it is either episode 5 or 6.

I wonder if ToJ has been moved to episode 3. This is an interesting tweet.

I don't normally criticise the show because they do know better than me. However, Dorne is an issue in my mind and there are a number of things that were wrong with it.
Location. They totally shot themselves in the foot. Yes it is absolutely stunning. However, you hardly even notice it. They could have filmed it in a rubbish tip for how noticeable the scenery was. The time constraints became an issue. It also affected the fight scenes as they were spatially too confined. For all we know it may have impacted the season 6 story as they may not have had time to film anything more than what we got. They couldn't do anything with the characters due to limited filming time. It was totally impractical.
Costumes. The costumes didn't work. Way too bright. You needed sunglasses to watch the Dorne scenes. I couldn't see the actors or scenery for the costumes. I'd see a bright pink blob or the bright yellow blob. This meant I couldn't take any acting seriously. And the guard wearing yellow is the most stupid choice because it attracts every flying insect from miles around.
The visual concept on paper sounds good, put into practice and it is horrible.
The actors aren't poor actors, so why was it so bad? They were probably too busy squatting flies to have time to perfect the scenes. We know nothing about the sand snakes apart from that they want revenge for their father and for an aunt they never met. The writing is as if they are trying to make 3 female mini versions of Oberyn. Had Pedro said some of these lines, they wouldn't have sounded corny at all. Coming from the mouth of a woman, it sounds absolutely terrible. The sand snakes are too aggressive. The accents, ok accents are often very difficult to pull off.
Move the sand snakes to other plots, tone down the hideous costumes and film somewhere more logical and I think there might be an improvement. The plot itself isn't stupid. It is the execution that is poor. I'll reserve judgement until we see something from them that doesn't require them to be fighting or being aggressive.

I posted this in the general speculation thread We've seen the trailer where she says everything she saw in the flames was a lie. That ties into episode 2 because she is still cold and was wearing fur in that scene. By episode 5 she is no longer in furs as there was a still of her leaving Castle Black with at least 2 other people. This suggests she has her faith back. One of those people is carrying Longclaw. Something must trigger her faith to be restored. I'm thinking Ser Davos talks her into trying to do something out of desperation, not to resurrect Jon, but to help them get out of the room. Mel prays to the Lord of Light and Jon rises. Whoever Mel is, it sounds like show Mel is older than Bloodraven. Carice put rumours out that she is 400 years old. That predates Bloodraven. My guess is that she was taken in by the Red Priests as a child whilst being either sold off for slavery or prostitution by a desperate mother with nothing. If she is as old as 400 she predates the doom of Valyria. The big question for me is, is this relevant for the show? Is it a nice to know or a need to know. I'm guessing it is a need to know. They could have made her ugly to show that it was a glamour and that she was losing her faith, but instead they made her really old. So my question isn't yet who is she. It is why have they made her so old. There has to be a reason for it. End of essay. I got a bit carried away. Mel is my favourite character as I find her interesting. Not because she is nice.

Thoros had to lose his faith to bring back Beric. That has been established in the show and possibly would explain why Mel had never seen it before. Maybe it is a prerequisite to bringing someone back from the dead. When Mel has her faith she is young, beautiful, vibrant and constantly warm. So much so that she probably doesn't need her necklace. When Mel loses her faith she is old, decrepit and cold. She needs warm blankets to keep out the cold. She also needs the necklace for the glamour as the Lord of Light doesn't keep her beautiful anymore.
I don't think the necklace issue is a continuity error, I think it is intentional to show the difference. To confirm that she is losing her faith, 2 scenes were needed without her wearing her necklace. The first being season 4 and this one. It will also show that the necklace only affects her looks and physique. She will still be cold, because as she said in season 5 the lord of light keeps her warm, without that she will be cold. Necklace or no necklace.
To regain her beauty without the aide of the necklace, she needs to resurrect Jon.
Just my theory.

I'm guessing that the Nights Watch in the room were the only survivors of Hardhome. Thorne would be intent on getting rid of anyone who survived Hardhome. It would undermine him as he tries to gain command of the Nights Watch.

I think Edd will become the new Lord Commander after Jon leaves to fight the Boltons. So he needs some men to hold Castle Black. Right. I never thought they'd end up destroying the entire Night's Watch, just those who side with Thorne and the mutineers. There's not much left though - they were down to 50 or less anyways, so once Thorne and co. are killed there won't be but a dozen or so is my guess. There's no way they'll hold the wall and the wildlings are going to help Jon Snow so I am guessing this is the opportunity the White Walkers need to go ahead and bust down the wall! To be fair, staying at the wall is a suicide mission. They need to get as far away from that place as soon as possible and tell people on their travels. They could head to Dorne. That would improve the Dornish plot. Off topic, but can you imagine the reaction to Jon in Dorne? If his identity were revealed, I'd expect him to be high up on the sand snakes hit list.
