Nice. I'm surprised they didn't do one for Jon. I'm not. You know, considering.

Years ago, before the tv-series, here in Italy the audio-book for the first half of AGoT (just that, they never made an audio book for the second half and beyond) was released, and the name pronounciation was all over the place. We got Dah-ehnerys (Daenerys), Chersay (Cersei, but with the initial C pronounced as in "church" and the final two letters pronounced as in "May"), and most notably Tirion, with the "Y" pronounced as a "i" (like in Simon). Gotta love that accuracy So that's where Gay of Thrones got 'Blonde Cher' from? You never know. Yeah, apparently a lot of Germans also say Tiwin similar to that. Well there is a discontinuity between the pronounciation of Tyrion and Tywin. It's understandable that, before the tv series, people would assume they were pronounced similarly.

Don't know if this was posted already: Oh, the pain. Robert Ball is amazing as always, though.

I'm currently listening to the TWoIaF audio book on Youtube and Aegon and Aemon are pronounced as Ah-ehgon and Ah-ehmon. WTF. Years ago, before the tv-series, here in Italy the audio-book for the first half of AGoT (just that, they never made an audio book for the second half and beyond) was released, and the name pronounciation was all over the place. E3

The Nintendo conference was embarassing to say the least. Aside from the Muppets sketch (pointless, yes, but kinda funny), they really blew it this year. I understand it's Mario 30th birthday, but they really need to tap the brake on that. 1/3 of the conference was on Mario Maker and honestly it's not a game that excites me at all. Starfox Zero looks good but was introduced very poorly. The Mario&Luigi crossover with Paper Mario looked wierd and more of a casual game compared to the Mario RPG series (Gimme Superstar Saga back!! ) The lack of the Zelda WiiU game hints to the fact that they probably moved the project to the console they're gonna announce next year, making it a launch title, and pretty much confirms that WiiU is in the Limbo-zone from now on. The new Zelda on 3DS looks nice but it's clear that it's just a time-buyer game that uses the "A Link Between Worlds" engine without much effort from the developers. And don't make me talk about that thing they showed with the Metroid Prime name on it. If the logo wasn't there to tell us that it was a Metroid game, NOBODY would have guessed it was. The only highlight to me was the Fire Emblem: Fates announcement which hinted to the fact that we Europeans and US gamers are gonna get a single version of the game instead of the two versions they have in Japan, which is nice. E3 this year was a blast (The Last Guardian, Horizon, For Honor, Final Fantasy VII Remake and the new Kingdom Hearts III footage were my highlights), but Nintendo's Digital Conference sucked badly.

The titles in Italy are as it follows:
A Game of Thrones: - Il Trono di Spade (The Throne of Swords) - Il Grande Inverno (The Great Winter) A Clash of Kings: - Il Regno dei Lupi (The Kingdom of Wolves) - La Regina dei Draghi (The Queen of Dragons) A Storm of Swords: - La Tempesta di Spade (The Storm of Swords) - I Fiumi della Guerra (The Rivers of War) - Il Portale delle Tenebre (The Gate to Darkness) A Feast for Crows: - Il Dominio della Regina (The Queen's Dominion) - L'Ombra della Profezia (The Shadow of the Prophecy) A Dance with Dragons: - I Guerrieri del Ghiaccio (The Warriors of Ice) - I Fuochi di Valyria (The Fires of Valyria) - La Danza dei Draghi (The Dance of Dragons)
The show, on the other side, is very well dubbed, even though it follows the dumb-ish name adaptation of the italian books. Ehile adaptation might be a problem, the dubbing is really well done (except for a few characters) In Italy the dubbing has a long history and basically everything gets an italian voicing, which is nice, since Italian dubbers are renowed internationally as among the bests.
I still prefere the original versions for serials and movies, because of the huge number of unique expressions that often gets lost in the adaptation process due to lenguage differences, but I recognize that the same amount of work into dubbing is not granted in a lot of other countries, so it's nice to have the alternative to the O.V. at hand.
My mother, for instance, started watching the Italian version of GoT and then switched to the English version last year (both to catch up with the series and to improve the lenguage), and loves the O.V. much more, but if it wasn't for the italian dub, she would have never approached the series.

I wanted to start this thread mainly to express my dissatisfaction with the Italian adaptation of the book series, and the reasons I absolutely preferred reading A Song of Ice and Fire in its original language.
The treatment the books got in our country is disrespectful to say the least.
First of all, one thing you must know is that the italian translations of the books suffer from a very controversial adaptation decision: most of the locations, for instance, have translated names. This is one of the main reasons I prefer the original version over the translated one: So many names lose impact once translated.
For instance:
- Winterfell becomes Grande Inverno, which literally is "Great Winter"
- The Wall becomes La Barriera, obviously a literal translation of "The Barrier"
- Instead of The Hand of the King, we got Il Primo Cavaliere del Re, which literally is "The King's First Knight"... even though the role has nothing to do with Knighthood. - The Eyrie is called Nido dell'Aquila, which could translate in "The Eagle's Nest".
And so on.
Also, the italian first edition was afflicted by an awful, awful publication decision by the italian publisher: they devided most of the books into 2 or even 3 parts, titling each part completely randomly, in order to sell each part at full-price. So, for a time the only way to read ASoIaF in Italy was to purchase all the 12 (TWELVE!!) books in which the five original books have been divided. Now they have published a new edition divided into 5 books as in the original release, but the translations remain sloppy and arbitrary without any sign of corrections.
So, yeah, Italian edition sucks. Oh, and did I mention that the Iron Throne is actually called Il Trono di Spade, aka "The Throne of Swords"? Way to go, italian translators.
Do your foreign editions suck as bad as ours? Bring it on!

I think all of them are great, but season 2 was a little less great than the others. More than half the episodes were a bit lackluster for me. I only really enjoyed 2x03, 2x06, 2x09 and 2x10 . I really only remember liking What Is Dead May Never Die, and Blackwater. Thinking about it, season 2 might not have many very good episodes as a whole (except mainly for Blackwater), but it did have many amazing moments. The tense conversations between Arya and Tywin in Harrenhal were incredible, for instance. Or Tyrion acting as Hand. Sure, we had to survive a lot of Daenerys in Qarth and Theon shouting like a moron, which was really awful, but I wouldn't call it a bad season at all.

Having Jon die would defeat the object of R+L, Melisandre and Hardhome all teasing his greatness. He'll come back. Saying in an interview immediately after the big shock "I can't tell if I'm back or not" means confirming the return to te eyes of the public. A straight and firm "For what they have told me, I'm dead and that's it" gets people talking.

Well, what's done it's done.
Considering next year Euron finally shows the fuck up and we probably get Riverlands storyline... does it have sense to keep this hope thing going?
I mean, I barely survived the third trainwreck in a row, I don't know if I have the strenght to jump on the next one...

Guys, calm down.
Of course Kit had to confirm the death. That makes people talk about the show, so that even more people watch it next season.
Besides, Jon being dead doesn't cofirm shit. It crosses out the warg option, but we saw freaking Melisandre coming back to the Wall earlier this episode. He might as well be "really dead", but he can still come back...
... and slice that little shit Olly like a fucking apple.

Surprisingly enough, my biggest concern is: did they really end Sansa's storyline with her fucking jumping the walls of Winterfell and then "CUT! see ya next season!"
And Stannis killed offscreen is just pure evil.

One thing has to be said though.
I've been here two weeks now and one of the most discussed topics was "HBO get your shit together" because of the costant leaks. Now, I don't know if it's just luck or if they actually went super-secretive about it, but I have to admit that, 15 minutes left until the finale airs, we know almost nothing.
Sure, we know FTW is happening, but we were 90% convinced about it (even though I was in the 10%). We basically know 5% of what's gonna happen in 10 minutes. That deserves recognition, I think.

I have a relative who is involved with creating sets for the show.. I don't really speak to him but I might cosy up to him in the coming months to try and get set info. Be sure to let us know when he's designing a clearing in a misty forest somewhere with a couple of nooses hanging from a tree....... Gosh, imagine if something like that leaked a few weeks ago. A two seconds shot of some nooses hanging in some "making of" or promotional featurette, like when the ice White Walker sword appeared in that stunt video weeks before the premiere. Now that would have been some real torture...

And for what it's worth, bogden was as baffled as we were at his inclusion in the recap Forgive my question since I'm kinda new around here: what has Bogden said/posted in the past that made him a reliable source? I'm not questioning the whole thing, but I wasn't around at the time and I'm just curious about it
