The wounds are speed holes.
Maybe that wasn't real blood, but rather fake blood she took from the theatre? Now waif thinks she's dying. Arya hides in the catacombs, where the waif expects to find her almost dead, but instead Arya is waiting for her in the dark, with Needle in her hand.

Some of the theories there are decent. I especially liked the mention that (f)Arya threw down the bags of silver with her right hand when Arya is and has always been left handed and Maisie has always made a point of her being left handed and learned to use Needle left handed. |

Something still doesn't add up though. After Arya killed Meryn Trant last season, Jaqen drank the poison and then took The Waif's body. Arya saw her own face on the dead body before she went blind. Both Jaqen and The Waif appear in the same place in the HoBaW this season. That obviously means that there's more faceless men who have been with Arya than Jaqen and The Waif because they keep switching faces. So if Jaqen was testing both The Waif and Arya, maybe it's one of the other Faceless Men who encounters The Waif in the streets as her test and Arya is still inside the HoBaW with needle. Damn, this is confusing.  |

Both Jaqen and The Waif appear in the same place in the HoBaW this season. That obviously means that there's more faceless men who have been with Arya than Jaqen and The Waif because they keep switching faces. So if Jaqen was testing both The Waif and Arya, maybe it's one of the other Faceless Men who encounters The Waif in the streets as her test and Arya is still inside the HoBaW with needle. Damn, this is confusing. That was just her hallucinations, the FM don't have her face. Though if waif is just an acolyte, how come all the face swapping in Season 5? |

something was off about Arya.
If it was just a matter of directing and acting i'd be surprised. As my brother said, "she fell for the oldest trick in the book". That's not really like arya. Considering she's been training in the HoBaW and knows what they do and how they go about things.
I like the arya was jaquen theory. I don't think Arya was hallucinating in season 5, i think the FM can take any face they want in the show. they haven't established any 'rules' that say otherwise.

Arya also drank the water inside THoBaW and didn't die. Even though Jaqen said, "If a girl is truly no one, she has nothing to fear," I think that could play a role in this. I'm not convinced that it was Arya either. |

i think the FM can take any face they want in the show. they haven't established any 'rules' that say otherwise. You literally mean "any face" - like, for example, that of Shae, if someone paid a price for Tyrion's head ?  |

I wonder if the faces are really for the trainees trainees. Those who are highly skilled do not need to take a face from the hall of faces. Maybe the upper management have the skill to skin change their appearance without the need for the faces in the hall of faces. Just from anyone who has drank from the water.
Speaking of which, how many drink from the water and survive? Maybe just the assassins themselves.
