This episode felt much more intimate than this show usually is. Partly from almost all of it being in Westeros for once, but mostly because of the way Sandor's re-introduction was handled, and how much of an isolated, single-episode arc it was. You wouldn't expect that at this late stage. It's also the most thematically consistent episode in a while. Most storylines were about rediscovering yourself and who you are, which was neatly bookended by the most obvious case of that in Sandor. Edit: Also he's one of ma faves (of which I don't have many) and I'm so damn glad he's back. I agree! Something about it was nice. Like you said, all Westeros maybe? I didn't even vote for last week's because I didn't like it very much. This episode was done well.

She's a fucking coiled spring. When she explodes it will be all the better for these episodes of silent rage. I will say Olenna had her shaken up a bit there... did you see that gleam in Cersei's eye at the end of Olenna's smack-talk speech? The madness is in their brewing. They are just taking a loooong time to bring it out of her. Saving it for the last couple episodes is my guess. I mean she's just been trodden on and dismissed by everyone except Jaime all season. After the humiliation of the Walk it's just completely worn on her, I mean she has no actual power to wield at all, other than the physical strength of The Mountain. He's her only weapon now, other than her wits. She can only maintain a semblance of composure for so long.

That explains the vision of Bran's from last episode. People were thinking it was Lyanna, but looking at the clothing, I'd say that it is Arya (or someone with her face).

So is Mel is just gone? Maybe she's off to see Dany with everyone else. /s I guess she was with them somewhere but it was a little weird. Oh well. Boy just not explained.

King's Landing is having such a slow buildup to an insanely epic moment. The calm before the storm.

My mum during the cold open before Sandor showed up:
"These people are too happy for this show. They're all gonna die."

So, even if it didn't work, why didn't they use the same argument with Lord Glover they used with Lyanna Mormont? At least Sansa should have pushed back on Glovers last comments.

King's Landing is having such a slow buildup to an insanely epic moment. The calm before the storm. Their calm before the storm has lasted 7 episodes. I felt like I was watching LOTR from the first scene. It was like being in the Shire. I don't think this episode was bad, but I can't shake the feeling of disappointment. Bear Island was the highlight and I liked Margaery and Olenna, but I wanted the Riverlands to be better* I did like Jaime bitch slapping Lothar. It reminded me of that person he bitch slapped in the book who didn't use Brienne's name.

I think it is probably a good idea that Mel keeps out of the way. It would have been nice to have had a scene with that discussion with her.
I do get the impression that Jon and Sansa were blinded by their love for Robb, and probably weren't given the whole picture as to how bad Robb messed up by marrying Talisa. If Sansa had known how bad the situation was, she might have accepted LF's offer in the first place.
LF didn't leave the offer open. She flat out declined it. I think he'll ask for something in return.

The explanation for why the episode had a cold open is pretty simple too.

I really like how Davos is becoming both a strong advisor and father figure to Jon and Sansa.

Unlike the Sansa scramble in season 5 , Arya's story in Braavos has shadowed Arya's book story in Braavos. I didn't think the Mummer's Company would actually made it into the Braavos show story by the end of season 5. We have that and we have her calling herself Mercy. What we don't have is her total immersion in FM-ness like The Ugly Little Girl and Mercy in Winds of Winter. Those stories show how determined she is to be FM. It's not clear from Dance of Dragons that the FM are going to punish her in the book. Also like the books the FM keep calling her Arya Stark and there seems no good reason to do that. Her FM story may be more complicated than it's set up right now.
