They had one brief scene all season before this though. Yeah I know but that just felt like 15 minutes of valuable screen time spent saying "Sams dad is a dick. Gilly is silly. Sam is a badass now." Fair enough. I thought those 2 killed it in this episode though, so I didn't mind. |

Horn Hill, little Sam being adorable and especially Sam stealing Heartsbane. I lol'd at that.
Arya taking Needle
Dany riding Drogon looked so much better than 509
BWB MENTION! The entire Frey scene was amusing.
DISLIKES
King's Landing was awful and they have completely crucified Jaime at this point.
I was hoping Bran would say something about Hodor and Summer.

If I had to rank the storylines this episode: Bran Braavos Horn Hill Dany The Twins King's Landing KL was definitely the weakest. The rest were pretty close. I think a case could be made for any of them being the best. I'm just happy Arya is done with the FM.  |

Braavos has definitely improved quite a bit since the beginning of the season, but it makes sense since they were only short scenes. I feel like King's Landing has still been one of the weakest storylines this season (Dorne being much weaker though), which is unfortunate, but I think they've slowed down the pace for something big at the end. |

I was surprised that scene on the sept steps ended up being a lot less epic than we all imagined it would be. Those were some of the best 'leaked' photos we got back during filming speculation months and I remember being in awe of it, thinking some massively big stuff was going to happen. Instead it ended up being a trick. I was as disgusted as Olenna when she had to tell Mace they'd just been beaten. Well played High Sparrow. Damn. |

I quite liked KL this episode. I knew there wouldn't be a fight since the scene was shot in Girona back in the day, so I didn't have any subverted expectations about that and I thought NCW and Pryce were particularly good. As was Mace in his pimpin' getup. The Jaime-Cersei dynamic being different doesn't bug me in the least.  And for those bugged by it, well they're apart now anyhow. |
