I finally watched Fantastic Beasts myself, now I've got to ask: Obscurials, do we think Ariana Dumbledore was one?

I finally watched the movie and I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would. I think the movie benefits from not having to adapt a book per se, instead they used it as inspiration and created their own story. I really loved the first scene inside the suitcase with all the creatures and the wonderful colours. It was a nice moment that simply explores the world JKR created and is amazing. Is hard to believe she wrote this and then went and dumped The Cursed Child onto us.
The only thing I didn't like was Grindelwald, Colin Farrel does a good job as the villain (not brilliant, but good enough) and then his true face is revealed and you see a bloated Jonny Depp as an albino and is just so lame. They should have casted an actor that doesn't look silly as an albino as Depp does. I sincerely hope they recast him.

Exposed the kids to the first Harry Potter movie. Son loved it. Argued with me about what house we would all be in as a family, told me about his HP dream where he became friends with Harry, Ron and Hermione. Daughter was like

The Cursed Child won several Oliver awards last night. I guess the actual performance is a lot better than the source material

The Cursed Child won several Oliver awards last night. I guess the actual performance is a lot better than the source material I'm almost afraid to read The Cursed Child. Kids and Harry Potter update: Daughter is no longer but is more like Son is not done the Chamber of Secrets book and she is like, fine, I'll read the Prisoner of Azabakan and then the Chamber of Secrets because SOME PEOPLE ARE TOO SLOW. Kids want a Harry Potter birthday. Except they have 8 months to wait for that.

What do you think of that casting? I like Jude Law as an actor but I don't picture him as a young Dumbledore. I'm sure he will do well in the role though.

I still havent seen Fantastic Beasts but I thought Depo was a little old to play Grindewald. I like this casting a little better than that one for sure.

Since we are rewatching the HP movies, once we are done, we will watch Fantastic Beasts.

Tonight I realized that my boyfriend pronounces Dumbledore like "Dum pledore". I asked him to stop, but he says that he's been pronouncing it that way since he was ten years old and he doesn't wanna. This bothers me more than it probably should.

This bothers me more than it probably should. This does not have anything to do with HP but this reminds of me a story. Mr. Kingeomer used to tease his sister calling Leonardo Di Caprio, Di Crapio and she legit thought that was his name and kept calling him that. Until someone (not Mr. Kingeomer, of course) corrected her and now when she talks about Leo, she has to pause to not say Di Crapio.

It bothers me so fucking much that Delphi is now part of the official Harry Potter canon. I wanted to look up something on the Harry Potter wiki earlier, and I saw that she is mentioned in several major articles. Made me cringe pretty hard. They could have solved that if they had made Delphi like a Voldemort fangirl, or the child of a former death eater who was killed during the war. Give her some tragic, fucked up backstory ... really anything, but don't make her Voldemort's actual biological daughter. I mean ... eww.

Boars offend me because of Old Yeller. How would I ward off dementors with the animal form of my childhood trauma?

Ugh, the films are on TV at the minute over here. I'm reminded how much they butchered things towards the end. Though HBP was also a very weak book too.
