Of course Stephen is still in his cave Hey, at least Conleth's out of his more and more lately. Which shows that if he can do it, maybe one day Stephen will too.

Surprise, suprise....no Kit or D&D. In their defense, they probably need to get the scripts and casting wrapped up for the start of filming. Last year's Comic-Con was about two weeks later than it is this year so they were probably done by then. But either way, I'm not shocked they're not going. If the Jack Bender (new s6 director) interview is to be believed, then D and D are still finishing up their scripts now (though the outlines, breakdowns and probably storyboards are likely already complete). Last year SDCC was during production, while this year it's a few weeks before it starts, so yeah I'm certain they're not being there is due to that rather than some fear of being asked about their choices. Because they're perfectly capable of doing that.
As for GrrM, well he has a little something of his own to complete, now doesn't he? Not that he likely will anytime soon, mind you.
And Kit. Well, maybe he'd have trouble saying the same "I'm not coming back, I swear!" stuff he said to EW and Vulture with a straight face?
(Sorry to post three times in a row on the same thread btw).

They seem to like to defend themselves and don't shy away from making appearances. I'm sure they've heard plenty of questions raised in their direction about this season. I'm sure they have stock answers lined up based on what they've already thought. Here's an example of what to expect from a stock Benioff/Weiss rebuttal given what I have seen from them in interviews. I'm just making these questions and responses up:This is why I think it would be better for them if they just never opened their mouths. there is so much wrong in what they said about Stannis it just makes me angry again. AdmiralKyrd says in his post that they never actually said those things btw. I clarify that because I saw you'd posted it on your tumblr as if it were an actual quote from one of them.
And now, I've posted four times in a row in the same thread. Sorry y'all.

Not surprised to see D&D and Kit skipping this one. I am sure D&D are busy getting ready for season 6 and Kit is a walking spoiler bomb at this point.
Gwen's doing triple duty there probably=GoT, Mockingjay Part 2 and Star Wars Natalie's doing double duty=GoT and Mockingjay Part 2.
Nice to see Conelith pop up as well as Liam and Carice.
None of the "A" list cast is in attendance: Emilia is probably either getting a well deserved rest having come off the Terminator press tour and just wrapping Me Before You (or she will still be on the Terminator press tour in other parts of the world), Lena has either just given birth by then or will be about ready to, Peter is probably doing project or spending time with his family, Nikolaj is filming a movie and we all know why Kit is not there.

Season 3 and 4 were at least the 2nd week in July , can't find season 5, so ComicCon could be starting right on the top of production. Unless the start date for season 6 is known?

I'm somewhat surprised that Peter or Emilia wouldn't be there considering how they could have discussed a lot about how their storylines came together, but I guess we already got that in the EW articles. I don't know what Peter's excuse is, but Emilia has been working pretty solid for the last few months and probably needs to get some sleep before she starts shooting S6.

Yeah true and depending on how much material she has for S6, she would need more sleep. I'm just happy that Sophie Turner is going again and that we have some new people like Alfie, Liam, and Carice showing up.

These questions wouldn't be that hard for them. It all comes down on whether or not they want to go up there and defend themselves, or if they feel it all might detract from the rest of the panel. What do you think the answer to this question would be? "Did you all clear the Shireen spoiler with George before including it?" "Ya know, we sat down with George for about a week several years ago to figure out how we were going to lay out this massive sequence of a story to an endgame. We also did this again several months ago, to get an update on how where he is at with the story. So George tells us certain things that he has planned. Some things we can include and some we simply can't. Stannis has this amazing, more elaborate story in the books but we weren't going to be able to do that since we have only a couple more years left for our production and we can't include everything. When we make these changes, it's not because we don't enjoy the book material, we'd love to have the time to be be able to do it that way - but we simply can't. We only have 10 hours a season to work with and we wouldn't be able to fit everything into Season 6 and beyond if we didn't bring some stories in the show to a close this past season. George has an unlimited scope of how much he can include but we don't have that luxury. He has his own writing process but the demands of television has it's constraints and we simply must go forward. We're at this point where, our story simply can't possibly follow the books exactly as they're written. So to answer your question, for us it felt like this was the natural conclusion to Stannis, Selyse, and their daughter in the show. As to what in particular George has planned, we're not at liberty to talk specifics, and I may have overstepped that a bit before, ummm! but some things will appear in the show that will occur in the books, both this past season and in the coming years. As to what George has planned, these things may be similar or they could be entirely different. And some things that we'll have in the show, such as Jaime and Bronn being in Dorne will be totally, totally different. And we simply have to do this for the show to survive."

I know you're trying to make a point about what you feel are obfuscating sortof answers but neither they or GrrM are likely to go into much detail about plot points like this from now on, so we best get used to it from all of them.

I would assume so since Star Wars and Mockingjay Part 2 are supposed to have panels there. Star Wars has not announced what cast will be appearing there but I'd be surprised that she is not on the panel since she'll already be there.

I would like to ask Sophie or Alfie just what did they land in? Or just any questions about their scenes really. I was pretty surprised by the lack of interviews with Alfie this year, given the great work he did, so this is the chance to rectify that.

Another one doing triple duty at Comic Con is Natalie Dormer, who is also doing a panel for a movie called Patient Zero that she did with Matt Smith.
I'd love for someone to ask Sophie and Alfie where they landed.

I was pretty surprised by the lack of interviews with Alfie this year, given the great work he did, so this is the chance to rectify that. Both Alfie and Gemma Whelan were at Ringcon in Germany end of 2014. I think it was there and the week before for the John Wick movie that he let it slip he was going to Belfast to film. I know at Ringcon Gemma seemed to kind of keeping an eye on him to keep him from spilling something. It's funny Alfie just gave an interview , Zap2It, seems to let slip he was to report for filming , something, for season 6. Gemma , at Belfast Film and Comic Con , again late October, gave the standard evasive answer about a season appearance (not the 'no casting call' one), so that I expected to see her S5, I am still surprised! I want to see Gemma turn up at a Red Carpet for GoT somewhere!

They DID say the things about Stannis being "a bad man" and "burning people since his first scenes".
