I saw this on Deadline. Honestly, what do the studios expect. You are at Comic Con where everyone has a smartphone...you don't think those SDCC exclusive footage isn't going to leak? Quentin Tarantino supposedly showed 8 minutes of Hateful Eight (which is the movie I am looking forward to, Jennifer Jason Leigh ) and I don't know if that footage leaked because I am staying far, far away from Hateful Eight spoilers. I did think the GoT cast was BS-ing about not having scripts yet. I figured with the show starting up production this month, they were getting some scripts. Though with the spoiler leak problem on this, I am surprised the actors are not locked in a Fort Knox type fortress to read their scripts.

It's also a bit not cool not to share the footage with other fans - the ones at the Con already have it so great by being there and near all those great people and they got exclusive footage too. What's the harm in releasing it for everyone? WB is dropping the ball here, when Ultron trailer leaked last year the studio released high res as soon as possible so that the people didn't have to watch the crappy, impoverished version of the footage

At this point, having a trailer for Batman Vs. Superman (or whatever it's called) out now and some Hi-Res footage of Suicide Squad would have people outside of SDCC very excited for WB movies coming out. I just, these days, don't get the point of Comic Con exclusives when the studio has to know that those exclusives are going to leak. I was not too hyped about Affleck as Batman but seeing him looking like an older, fed up Batman has me very interested in a movie that I was on the fence about. I imagine there are others on the fence about SS but maybe seeing some footage might have those on the fence thinking, "I have to see this!"

I would get the studio not releasing the footage if it sucked, but it was seriously the best trailer at the Con this year and I think it'd get people to warm to new Joker a bit, since the little we see of Leto was great. I can see why X Men footage is not online yet, though....yikes.

Yeah I felt like the whole thing was pretty locked down and limited. I really think all of them were lectured by HBO to be extremely careful about what they said so as not to get the fans all worked up about misquotes and spoilery type responses. Again, this is the off season before probably the biggest most anticipated season of them all where book fans and show-only fans alike are all going crazy for TWOW spoilers and information especially with all the cliffhangers they left in the finale. Jon Snow is just one of the many characters we have no idea what is going to happen next season. I would think being an actor at commiccon or any interviews this summer has to be pretty tough trying to self-monitor your responses carefully. :-S And yet, I've seen people saying that they are disappointed with Sophie because she said she didn't agree with all the controversy Sansa's rape scene created, that she is saying this because a) she is young and doesn't know better and/or b) she can't say anything negative about the show so she is lying. I can't stand it when people say stuff like that. Sophie's opinion on the scene is just as valid as anyone else's. Just because she doesn't agree with how a lot of people felt about the scene that doesn't mean she is lying or is too naive to talk about stuff of this nature.

Visually he looked better than I expected and he's a fine actor so I don't doubt the potential for a great performance but the line he gives in the trailer is super super cheesy and not in a good way.

I wish they were able to release all the audition videos...I would have loved to see Richard, Kit, Michelle and Stephen. Yeah I felt like the whole thing was pretty locked down and limited. They were both like, "yeah, he's dead but I never really cared for his character. So it's alright if he's gone". It just made me laugh.

Most interesting comment here is Carolyn Strauss's. Seems off on the idea of an extended season 7, but left wiggle room. (Strauss is more than a producer she is also president of HBO's entertainment division.) link

link 2The proper question to ask. "Does Jon Snow stay dead?" Never seems to get asked.

link 2The proper question to ask. "Does Jon Snow stay dead?" Never seems to get asked. The more and more I hear people going on about Jon being alive, the more I hope that he stays dead. Its destined to derail and ruin every GoT event up to S6. I mean you'll have people asking someone like Lena Heady, Emilia Clarke or Alexander Siddig, whose storylines have nothing to do with him "do you think Jon Snow is dead????" And its just such lazy interviewing to repeat on this. Firstly, they likely share the fans opinions, secondly, even if they do know, they wouldnt say and its even less likely that they would know. Will interviewers stop asking this question, please?

I dont care if youre Jon Snow, Danaerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister or anyone. You get stabbed three times in the gut and right through the heart by an angry child. Youre dead. End of discussion. Of course theres Mel, but till it happens he is dead.

Interesting how some fans are more invested in some characters than others. I know a lot of book fans who don't like Daenerys but "Khaleesi" is hugely popular with the HBO show crowd it seems. Just different tastes in characters I think. We have guys here who are devoted Bolton fans and I find them one of the most despicable houses in the entire story, even more than the Lannisters but some people love the bad guys haha. That there are fans out there who don't care about Jon Snow's death is pretty amusing. And you haven't yet filled them in on all the prophecies, speculation, theories and tin foil yet?!

They will be confused next season when she returns to Khaleesi but remains Queen of Meereen!

I find it hilarious. One of the fans doesn't know anything outside the show and doesn't really delve into it too much. The other is really into the show and discusses it with me at detail. Before Jon died she had figured out he was of royal blood and who his father was. Funny enough, after he died she sent me an email with a bunch of speculation but this part amused me: I explained to her that, no he's still a secret Targaryen. But I think she's coming from a place where sure he can be a secret Targaryen but who's going to follow a "king" who was dead and then brought back to life. Which is an interesting question.

I posted this in the Appreciating Richard Madden thread but I will also post this here.
Richard Madden, Julian Glover (Pycelle) and Syrio Forel are attending Blackpool Comic Con on Sept 12th.
The autograph and photo ops for Richard are going on sale tonight at 6pm, for those of you who live in the UK and are going.
