This too btw.
Sadly it's the much-hated Hibbs doing the interview. So sorry about that.
EDIT: This too, of course.
So apparently Obama told David Nutter that ep. 309 is his favourite episode.

This is the whole thing, I think. This year's panel might not have been very informative, but it was at least fun. Conleth Hill is hilarious - and Liam Cunningham and Carice Van Houten, I love them so much, they are literally the best thing in the world, whenever they come together. They complement each other brilliantly. I just feel kinda bad for Hannah Murray, she didn't get to say anything. I mean, Gilly is probably not the most interesting character in the series, so it was to be expected, that there wouldn't be any questions directed towards her from the audience, but at least the moderator could've asked her something. And I love how at 23:10, Sophie randomly touches Natalie's face ...

Conleth , never asked, that sounds right, ... first few seasons , seems, the story was he did not do interviews , that much. Starting with season 4 and now season 5 he is doing red carpet stuff. It's interesting, I think, Conleth is the only cast member from Essos right now, at SDCC. Such a big group and no one from Dorne either.

I'm glad I didn't bother to follow this SDCC very closely yesterday. Apparently I didn't miss anything. Sure that the audition compilation video is fun, but I'm disappointed that we got no casting announcements

got a chance to watch the panel. Got to say the answers to some questions and the questions themselves were crap this year and the moderator liked to butt in and not let the actors answer anything.
So disappointing!

I wish they were able to release all the audition videos...I would have loved to see Richard, Kit, Michelle and Stephen.

A bunch of audition videos from past years! No Stephen Dillane audition? Dissapointed. Ahh well, he probably just walked in and demanded the job. "The part of Stannis Baratheon is mine by right."

I wish they were able to release all the audition videos...I would have loved to see Richard, Kit, Michelle and Stephen. Yeah I felt like the whole thing was pretty locked down and limited. I really think all of them were lectured by HBO to be extremely careful about what they said so as not to get the fans all worked up about misquotes and spoilery type responses. Again, this is the off season before probably the biggest most anticipated season of them all where book fans and show-only fans alike are all going crazy for TWOW spoilers and information especially with all the cliffhangers they left in the finale. Jon Snow is just one of the many characters we have no idea what is going to happen next season. I would think being an actor at commiccon or any interviews this summer has to be pretty tough trying to self-monitor your responses carefully. :-S

Also, apparently D&D decided not to attend not because they are busy working on season 6, is because they didn't want to answer questions about Sansa's storyline

Monomaniacal fans and critics do tend to make everything about their particular gripe or fixation in rather circular ways. It's hilarious in particular how they pick and choose which answers from what interviews to say "oh they're just lying for the show" and "nope, they're telling the truth there"; which tends to result in them taking things meant as jokes all-too seriously and them assuming what are often the actors' actual opinions are just them being paid to take an official line. I imagine ASOIAF reddit and AFOIAF are full of woeful misreadings of people's comments from SDCC right now (particularly, I think, things said by Sophie and Gwendoline because some people in this fandom can't quite handle the fact that, yes, the cast often enjoy the writing of the scenes they're given to enact).

Just because I hated the storyline doesn't mean Sophie did. For her, it probably was a chance to use acting muscles she never had the opportunity to use before. And she got to work with the likes of Alfie, Michael and Iwan-Alfie whom she has not worked with since season 1 and Michael and Iwan are were new to her. As for D&D, I would agree that most of the reason for them not attending is to work on season 6 (keeping in mind that they skipped the panel in 2012 because they were busy prepping for season 3) and there might have been a bit of avoidance for them not to be addressed with spoilerly questions...like about Jon Snow. But I am sure they would have addressed Sansa's storyline, as they have in the media and that's not why they sat this one out.

Especially this. I get the controversy about Sansa's rape, but tbh, people would be more pissed off if Sansa didnt get raped by Ramsay, and they got along well. I think when people accuse D&D of using rape to futher a storyline they forget a lot of facts, mainly that George's story includes rape to build characters (Cersei and Dany). 90% of those bitching about Sansa and Ramsay were probably fans of Khal Drogo. Go figure.

Honestly, if I were D&D I wouldn't want to go on a live panel either - what a drag. Knowing the more vocal/obsessive fans are going to plague you with questions/complaints about your decisions in one small fraction of the entire overall story because of a character they love a bit too unreasonably coloring the entire show poop-colored for them. It can ruin the spirit of the panel if people keep asking about something they don't want to talk about in the first place for fear of spoiling the storyline. I would definitely say "nah, I'm gonna be busy writing ..." kinda like George did haha. And that's a good thing to be busy writing!

I think they were genuinely busy, they've never missed a big pannel that I can remember. They enjoy the fan interaction stuff. I'm sure it wasnt to avoid obsessive fans.

Ew. No one loves this bitch for her actions. I think the actors live in their own little bubble.

Ambiguity is telling I think Gwen is not aware of how the writers fucked her over. There is intense, deserve dislike for her character now to the point she was on 'flay her' wishlist. Really the more of gifs I see, the less I want to see the panel.

Me in early season 5: "I'm so glad they're not doing Brienne's book 4 material!"
Me during ep 5x10: "Why the fuck couldn't they do Brienne's book 4 material??"

Ew. No one loves this bitch for her actions. I think the actors live in their own little bubble. I don't think it was called for to call her a bitch because the show-writers wrote her differently than in the books, do you? I normally don't say much about your extreme dislike for D&D's plot choices especially in regards to Stannis because I know you love him so much but this one was a bit much. When others here have been insulting or name-calling, you or Fire and Blood have put them in their place for being disrespectful. Lead by example.
