David and Dan were not at the SDCC panel for Season 2 in 2012, with the caveat that they were busy prepping for season 3. That was also the panel Lena Headley couldn't attend (Rose Leslie replaced her) and Kit Harington had to back out of it because he had just broken his ankle. GRRM was the moderator that year and it was a producer, Emilia Clarke, Rose, Michelle Fairley, Richard Madden and Alfie Allen.
I would imagine we should be hearing if GoT is attending SDCC this year soon and who will be representing the show there.
Tampa Bay Comic Con gets some good guests from GoT there. Two years ago they had Maisie Williams and Rory Mc Cann there. Last year they had Pedro Pascal and Richard Madden, who did a panel together as well.

I could see cast who have not been and possibly Bryan Cogman who has never done SDCC. I thought Bryan lived near by? Cogman is even better at fielding than Dave and Dan and can be quite elegant with obfuscation. Notice Cogman did not give a season 4 Q and A this year except something in California that I can't find anymore. They could send production people, especially the VFX guys, wonder if the fans would buy that? Or only 'Essos cast' who could claim they know nothing about the Westeros story.

I'm willing to bet most book fans will be very respectful and they'll have hardly any trouble at all. The internet isn't a good sample. I'd be shocked if D&D show up. It would be best if they stayed away, one to avoid any questions they really don't want to answer or are not ready to answer yet (Jon). It comes to mind last year when Craig Ferguson, the panel moderator, shut down a Lady Stoneheart question. Obviously D&D did not want to answer those and Ferguson was told beforehand. I was surprised that the LS question got asked when usually people are asking the same softball questions the Red Carpet Shmoos do. Seems the Oxford Union people were circumspect this year not sure if they were warned. Some one did ask a question that somehow had David respond with something like "please be patient it will all become clear in the end", after this season that seems a tall order.

They seem to like to defend themselves and don't shy away from making appearances. I'm sure they've heard plenty of questions raised in their direction about this season. I'm sure they have stock answers lined up based on what they've already thought.
Here's an example of what to expect from a stock Benioff/Weiss rebuttal given what I have seen from them in interviews. I'm just making these questions and responses up:
These questions wouldn't be that hard for them. It all comes down on whether or not they want to go up there and defend themselves, or if they feel it all might detract from the rest of the panel.

What do you think the answer to this question would be? "Did you all clear the Shireen spoiler with George before including it?"

Ugh. How can they say Stannis is a bad person when he was the only one that aided the Night's Watch? Stannis isn't perfect (obviously, he burns people) but they act like he's in the same league as Joffrey and the Boltons. He isn't.

Surprise, suprise....no Kit or D&D.
In their defense, they probably need to get the scripts and casting wrapped up for the start of filming. Last year's Comic-Con was about two weeks later than it is this year so they were probably done by then.
But either way, I'm not shocked they're not going.

Yeah if Jon was actually dead for good, Kit would be there.

I'm somewhat surprised that Peter or Emilia wouldn't be there considering how they could have discussed a lot about how their storylines came together, but I guess we already got that in the EW articles.

I am glad GRRM and D&D are not going this year. I generally prefer hearing from the actors, and the types of questions people would have for the others likely couldn't be answered without spoiling shit. Really surprised by some of those names on that list. Really happy about that list too. Liam and John in particular always give such insightful answers. I can only assume Conleth lost a bet and that's why he is going.

Nice so we should get the casting video around the 10th?

Possibly, but as I said, Comic Con is two weeks earlier this year than it was last year so they may not be done with the main castings by the 10th.
However, I'd be surprised if we didn't get any castings by then.

Recent news is Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Natalie Dormer, Conleth Hill, Hannah Murray, Sophie Turner, Carice van Houten and Maisie Williams. O! It's already up. Interesting how Conleth Hill has come around. www.ew.com/article/2015/06/23/game-thrones-comic-conThe three big cheeses are avoiding frumbuzzle , for the moment. Gad with Carolyn Strauss and David Nutter there wont be any time for questions. I guess Nutter gets the hard questions, if they are asked.

I'm glad D&D and Kit are skipping it. People would only ask them about Jon being resurrected and it would ruin the panel.
