Here's a funny thing. In Dance , in the pit, when Drogon lands , George gives a certain wing span. Lots of arguments that Drogon should have been bigger. The show keeps the approximate size of Drogon as the book, big enough for sure, but interesting. Drogon, a growing, excited dragon! O'l Drogon.

I felt the lighting while Dany rode in Drogon was very strange. The whole scene gave me Harry Potter Quidditch match vibes, I don't know. Maybe it'll be better in a rewatch without the Shireen scene ahead. Ha I said the same thing! Very Quidditch looking. Oh well.

I watched a bit of it again and when she closes her eye it really looks like she's calling him to her. Not saying that's what happened but what it looked like to me.

I loved seeing her climb on (though I don't quite understand how she found enough room between those thorny scale-y things to sit), and take flight. Stupendous, but too short. I wanted to see her fly 'way over the whole pit-arena thing and up into the sky. In general, thought all the Drogon part was fantastic, though. Rated it a 9.

Dany was wearing her faux Dothraki riding pants and boots under neath her 'wedding gown', anyone notice that!

The CGI looked really uneven for me and I'm wondering if it's because I watched on my iPad. Did you watch it on an HD TV?

I think they wanted to portray the strength of their bond. Martin talked about it in an interview, that we would learn more about the dragon bond and that it's very strong. Maybe they were just trying to give us a hint.

I thought it was near perfect. It would have been cool to have a little tame stuff but they did do a stare down. It was still epic.

It's pretty much a losing battle to get any kind of CGI to look especially great when you have a human trying to interact directly with it so less is definitely more in this case. I think all things considered, it was pretty amazing.
I still really don't understand why people were wanting to see her whip the shit out of him as opposed to getting him to notice her and being tamed by her touch. That was by far the best decision they made.

Anyone find any good HQ pics of her flying?

I thought the CGI of her flying on him was shit, but I expected it to be. So because of that, it lived up to my inner hype. I'm just surprised Hizzy got killed.

You wouldn't believe how long I kept my little 13-inch tv. But once I got a 'real' tv, I've loved it. Mine's probably small compared to most - 28 or 32 inches. But it looks like the "big screen" compared to my other one.

Also, just re watched the whole thing again and it was actually better the second time around. Most of the Harpy's were dead by the time Dany decided to take a ride on Drogon slso, it looked like to me that Dany almost felt compelled to fly him, like she was in a sort of trance.

(haha, I keep agreeing with your posts, but you keep posting exactly what I think before I post it! ) I got the same vibe as I did back when she walked into the flames and then walked back out with live dragons hanging onto her. A sort of, this is meant to be, so I must do it, whatever happens.

I think overall it was everything I'd hoped for in perspective of what's possible on screen and without all the PoV we got in the books to help.
The CGI of him bursting through a ball of flame and flying fast around the arena was AMAZING and I started crying right then and there even though I knew it was coming because a lot of us have waited quite a long time to see the reality of that moment so nothing could really spoil that. I thought his landing, fighting the harpies and flaming was all really good - you def. need high res to appreciate it. CGI when she got on and took off wasn't so great but better than I feared overall so really the majority of it was well done.
My only complaint with the entire scene was that lame stuff between Hizdahr and Daario. I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about that. I really disliked it a lot.
