Well, it's not as though 510, s6 and s7 won't spoil a ton more... Yes but if they list what came from the books and what didn't, it will be much worse. It will be specific spoiling, not just in general I'd be glad to know what's from the books and what isn't tbh for s6 and s7. I don't mind waiting a year but I hate waiting for uncertain five year plus periods of time. So one way or another I want to know how ASOIAF ends, whether or not the final books ever come out. And it'd be nice to know as much as possible what GrrM intends, if we never do get ADOS.

I still like show Stannis.
And I won't rate this episode a 1.
The scene would've been okay if it was against LC Bran. But burning your daughter and heir for the Bastard of Bolton?
I still think that Stannis won't burn Shireen in the books. Mel will do it to resurrect Stannis, who she thinks is dead. But in the end Mannis was alive so Shireen died for nothing.
Edit: I haven't seen the episode yet

Now those are rather pessimistic expectations, eh? They are. But as much as I love GrrM, I blame that pessimism more on him than on my own innate cynicism.

Since when has GRRM been immune to criticism? Like Roose is Azor Ahai said, Stannis is too far away from Shireen to make the decision. This will be Mel's handywork and she will try to help Stannis. Remember, she hears that Stannis is dead, so she might burn Shireen to help Stannis or alternatively burn her to resurrect Jon. Only thing we know for a fact is that Shireen will burn.

Stephen Dillane portrayed the pain and regret perfectly. "What have I done?"
Most of Stannis's men looked away, disgusted and sad.

Congrats to everyone who guessed right from the promo pics that Shireen will burn and Selyse would try to save her. Did people guess that? I think some did. It might have been in the AFOAIF Casting Speculation thread, but some of these are deleted and the rest is too much for me to comb through, sorry. Maybe the ones are here on this board, I don't remember who said it, honestly.

Yeah, wasn't king's blood supposed to wake dragons from stone? Where are Stannis' dragons now?

God, it's like ... do David and Dan even think about the stuff they write sometimes? If they, for whatever reason, wanted to have Stannis sacrifice Shireen, they at least could have provided him with a better motivation to do so. I mean, yeah, sure, no food, bad weather, the situation kinda sucked, but is that reason enough to kill your own child? Couldn't he have tried something else first, like maybe go on a hunt or something? Or blankets? That's just not good writing.

I'm going to wait til the finale to pass judgment on show Stannis. I owe it to my favorite charater unlike D&D who decided to ruin him the second he didn't leave his daughter at the Wall. I don't care what anyone says it's still character assassination to me. But Stephen is just too good. I take back what I said before about him watching with a straight face.
Still a very dumb decision that I will never accept because as of now it was for no good reason at all. I need to know what that was for. Dead Ramsay? Winterfell? Jon? The Iron Throne? Nothing at all?

I wonder wtf Melisandre told him to change his mind 180°. I mean, he said 'My family stays with me.' WHY Stannis, W H Y? I hope your heart is torn out of your body. By Davos. While Melisandre watches, burning at stake. May the Others bugger your Lord of Light.

While Melisandre watches, burning at stake. May the Others bugger your Lord of Light. Yeah this is a serious criticism of mine. D&D said in their aftermath interview (Inside the Ep) that Stannis has always been a man of strong convictions who does not change his mind once he's made it up and it was part of his character's defining strength and weakness ... right on ... and then BAM: OH LETS JUST HAVE HIM CHANGE HIS MIND 3 EPISODES LATER!!! Yeah guys, that went over like a fucking lead balloon. And yes, I know they've cried "George told us this would happen" but I still question their reasoning and excuses and the abrupt 180 decision with not a word in otherwise from him at all. It stank like poo. :poop:

I can't see how Stannis burns Shireen in the books if they are very far away from each other, and he has said in the last chapter we saw him that she is his heir and his men should fight for her. If it happens in the books I am sure it will be under completely different circumstances, not because ShirtlessRamsay is too much of a badass and burnt your food

Except that Gendry's blood had nothing to do with Robb and Joff dying, Mel saw their deaths in her fires, interpreted what she saw correctly for once, and used the leeches to make Stannis believe it was her who caused their deaths. I'm not happy with Shireen's death either, but the least we can do is use actual arguments to criticize the scene

But seriously - I can't really get into that whole king's blood argument with people because it's contradictory in quite a few ways and I honestly think GRRM did that intentionally to make her even more ambiguous. She's full of shit part of the time and yet she DID make that demon baby thing - there's no denying that was just smokes and mirrors, right? Or was all of that just a glamour too? Did Brienne not see what she saw? Who the hell knows anymore. I just want the Red Witch to BURN like she so casually burns everyone else!
