King Tommen beat me to it about 13 hours earlier Snakes do seem to come up in their history. The Conquest of Dorne ended with Baelor Targaryen walking through a snake pit to get his cousin Aemon the Dragonknight freed. But I think the show is sticking with this because it's easily recognizable. I am however puzzled why they'd keep Dorne on the intro as a city. They already mentioned Water Gardens and Sunspear in the show as cities, no? The Water Gardens was mentioned last year and Jamie noted Sunspear this season, tho I can't tell if an episode will occur where Sunspear is a location. We know the Sand Snakes did a week or two or more ? shooting in Belfast , where there interiors there for Sunspear?

They used the interior of the Alcazar in Seville as well as the exterior. \

They were probably doing their fight training there. I'm not completely sure where the beach scenes were but I think they may have been in Northern Ireland. I could be wrong though.

I'm sure there are some Dorne interiors in Belfast too. They only shot in the Alcazar for a week after all, so they'd need a bit more time than that, I think.

Now that I think of it, the upcoming cell scenes may have been shot in Belfast.

Would this have been filmed in Belfast? Or is that the Alcazar also? EDIT: Nope, some googling has thrown up this, which is where that shot looks to be, only with different lighting.

They really did hit a homerun with using the Alcazar for the Water Gardens and Dornish architecture. It's unbelievably beautiful and fits perfectly. They also mentioned in that making-of featurette how they got to spend an entire week there filming which is more than anyone else has since only one other movie has ever been permitted to be filmed there and just for a couple of days worth of shots. For many of us, this is probably the first we've ever seen this gorgeous location so it does truly seem like another land and another time that doesn't exist. I'm appreciating that we do have beautiful places like this still in our real world. Now if I just had the money to travel and see them all!

I did not know there was more than one Alcázar , this is the Alcázar of Seville. Even tho I know of this Alcázar I know better about the Alhambra which features in many historical documentaries , novels, music , so on... I remember the Alhambra from Jacob Bronowski's The Ascent of Man.
