BTW, to the people here who know more about hair-dye and wigs etc. than me, in this shot from the promo does Sansa's hair look like it's Sophie's real hair and just wet or like it's her dark wig? I can't tell because I don't know much about this sortof thing...but mayhaps someone with more expertise and a better eye could figure it out?
I'm pretty sure the point of her pre-wedding bath is to return to her red hair and this could prove that if someone can work it out... It's really hard to tell. Red hair looks dark when wet and the lighting will just make it even darker. I'm not an expert on wigs, but since her hair is wet I'm going to guess that it's her real hair because I don't think they've ever shown anyone who wears a wig with wet hair before, presumably because they'd have to make one specifically for it to be wet and that would be a lot of effort for one scene. Additionally, the women who wear wigs always have the same hairstyles, just alternating between a few.

Oh and as for the actual dye - likely she just had some sort of washable stuff in for filming or they dyed it back to match her natural color. Dying one's hair is very quick and easy these days and I'm sure she's got a good hair-dresser so it's not getting damaged because it looks pretty natural in all the pics I've seen of her off screen. The dark hair isn't Sophie's real hair. It's just a wig.

I think the color probably has something to do with that - hard to pull off that platinum silver realistically I guess.

And to make this all more confusing, Sophie's a blonde in real life and the red hair itself is dye. So she's playing someone who's very probably washing out dye, that's actually a wig, to return to her real colour, which is actually dye.

Although I suppose the hair they use can sometimes look a bit manufactured, but I'm guessing that's deliberate. But it's definitely a wig. If you zoom in here (just view it actual size) you can see the meshing of the wig underneath her hairline. You can kind of see the same thing with Emilia's here.

She's a very convincing natural redhead with her eyes and fair skin - it works well for her! I look at that tiny bit of red at her hairline in that photo in the bath and 'hope' it means she's washing out the dye. I wouldn't think they'd have anything that's terribly permanent in those times but then again they didn't wash their hair much to begin with.

Yep, I can see a bit of an oddity at the hairline but only if zoomed in. I really thought that was Sophie's natural hair so they did a good job. I'm not saying Dany's wigs are terrible, though I've heard some criticize them as badly done, I'm just saying they're more obvious to me since I didn't actually realize Sophie was wearing one too.

Ah, I guess that settles it then. That's likely why they didn't show her at the wedding, because it would spoil her (second) transformation.
I wonder if this means The Dress will be ditched also.

Dress styles seem to be a big deal in the show. I watched some of the documentary stuff in the off-season and their costume designers take a lot of pride in making the clothing 'symbolic' to the wearer and the culture of the scene. ie - Margaery's thorns and roses wedding dress, scale-like detailing (dragon) on some of Dany's fancier pieces, etc etc. The dress Sansa made for herself to leave the Eyrie was symbolic of bird's feathers ... whether those were to symbolize the book references (Sandor) of her "little bird" theme, or Littlefinger's mockingbird, I'm not sure there. So all that being said, I am anticipating (and looking forward to) Sansa's wedding dress being something very northern and Stark symbolic! ETA: Though, before one of the Bolton guys mentions it - Direwolf fur would be quite sad and distasteful all things considered.

Well, in any case, I hope she wears something with direwolves on it at some point. I've always praised the show on its detailed costuming, but as a big Stark groupie, I feel like they've been kind of jilted with the heraldry being displayed on their clothes. Everything the Lannisters wear is lion-shaped, the Baratheons have stag horns everywhere, the Tyrells are covered in flowers, Dany's dresses are made out of scales, Tully armour is made out of fish scales etc etc. But the Starks hardly ever wear anything with direwolves

The northern women's stuff in general is dumpy and weird ... bits of flotsam sewn onto the front. I remember not liking it from Season 1 when Cersei complimented Sansa's dress she made herself and I'm like "Wtf is that supposed to be, macrame?!" I'd love to see some sort of sharp looking dove gray leather on Sansa with cream white detailing in the pattern of wolf's fur or something - and the Stark symbol is so awesome - why they never put it on anything other than banners is weird, I agree.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (I'm not looking forward to the wedding at all if you can't already tell.) You and me both, friend. I'm willing to accept that Sansa grows a pair of wings and flies away just to keep her away from Ramsay
