Won't be watching because of the time difference but looking forward to the results! I think the nominees are very strong this year so I'm struggling to really call any category. After their performance at the Emmys last year though I can't wait for Sandra and Andy's hosting though! I'll catch the highlight on the YouTube's. "The winner is LaLa Land!"

Omg Richard Madden won a golden globe?! Yes he did. I was way off my predictions...though it seemed like the Globes wanted to spread it around especially in the TV categories. Billy Porter of Pose LOOKED PISSED OFF that he lost. I was glad to see Sandra Oh win. I don't think Richard was as much as a surprise win as the media is making him out to be, the big surprise was Bohemian Rhapsody winning best picture since the critical consensus (in the US) was a great performance by Rami Malek in a so-so movie. Glad that A Star Is Born won for Best Song but I thought it would do better overall The star of many memes!

Hmmm, I still think it was a massive surprise especially when you consider his competitors (Rhys was fresh off the Emmy win after all). Not to mention a British actor from a British tv show winning ahead of the more US centric choices, which are usually shoe-ins for Hollywood awards. I’m also happy for Sandra Oh, though it is a huge shame for Keri Russell who will now never get her much deserved award fornthe Americans. The woman has been robbed! speaking of robbed, I wish Sharp Objects had done better, it was such a brilliant show all around and Adams was amazing. Glad Clarkson won but the series and Adams deserved a win too.

Also I feel like this Globe win pushed Madden up in the next James Bond race. The Bodyguard may be to him what Layer Cake was to Daniel Craig

Glad Clarkson won but the series and Adams deserved a win too. This is true. This was the first year that The Americans got any nominations from the Globes, which is why I thought Matthew Rhys might not win. And between Sandra Oh and Julia Roberts, Keri Russell didn't have a chance unfortunately. At least she's gotten an Emmy for her work in the show and Rhys has his too. I don't even the SAG awards nominated him, as a matter of fact Jason Bateman was the only one out of the guys nominated for GG to be nominated for a SAG award (the other SAG nominees are John Krasinski, Sterling K Brown, Bob Odenkirk and Joseph Fiennes) Meanwhile the Critics Choice Awards nominated Madden, Rhys, and Billy Porter (of Pose) from the GG group (the Critics Choice also nominated Diego Luna for Narcos Mexico, Bob Odenkirk, Freddie Highmore, and Milo Ventimiglia--that whole group is a terrific group but I think Rhys wins it) I am surprised Amy Adams who had 2 nominations at the Globes came home empty handed. I thought she'd either win for Vice or Sharp Objects (which I still have to watch). Also I feel like this Globe win pushed Madden up in the next James Bond race. The Bodyguard may be to him what Layer Cake was to Daniel Craig It's quite possible. Do you feel like Bond speculation is too soon though? I think Craig's last movie films in the Spring and I feel the people in charge of the Bond franchise won't even be eyeing candidates until that's released. I think Madden would make a good Bond...I guess it depends what they are going for after Craig.

Bond speculation has been rampant (sorry that’s just an excuse to use that delicious word) for well over a year now. It’s always a hot topic as candidates rise and fall. For example, Tom Hiddlestone was a major contender until Hiddleswift happened. Then his odds plummeted. Keri didn’t win an Emmy for actress, Matthew Rhys did for acting though. Huge shame, but the lead actress category has just been insanely competitive in recent years

OMG, Keri Russell never won an Emmy for The Americans...at all??? The Bond speculation is amusing for sure. The BAFTA's were announced this morning and it's the usual suspects-with the exception of Steve Coogan being nominated for Stan and Ollie.

The BAFTA's were announced this morning and it's the usual suspects-with the exception of Steve Coogan being nominated for Stan and Ollie. Double checked and nope, only ever nominated. Margo Martindale has had some (well deserved!) Wins for her portrayal of Claudia and Rhys of course got his Emmy last year. See how they do at the CC. Haha, Bond speculation is completely and utterly nuts, you don't know the half of it. Course you also have the shit stains out there who get all pissy when people suggest Idris Elba so it's not all fun and games. Names I've mostly seen bandied about are Hiddlestone, Elba and Hardy. Madden is a recent entry into the race. Couple of others have cropped up but never gained much traction. Sandra Oh's acceptance speech is everything. And her parents are true gems. Anyone seen the opening monologue where she lands the joke about Asian mother's being unimpressed? I thought especially given that she is not a comedian, she was really a great host. I also loved her whitewashing joke about Aloha and Ghost in the Shell. Was funny to hear Emma Stone shouting "I'm sorry!" The Jim Carey bit was funny too, when they evicted him from the film area. Olivia Colman is ours by the way, don't you dare take her away from us. Watch her answering the press after she has won, hilarious. "YOURE NOT FIFTY ONE?!" also completely straight faced use of the term plinky plonk. BAFTAs don't often have a lot of surprises to be honest.

It's absurd that Toni Collette isn't sweeping awards shows for Hereditary. I am hearing a lot of folks say that. stoneheartsrevenge, Olivia Colman is going have a big year between the Favourite and The Crown (which I am super hyped for). She seems utterly delightful. I have a feeling the Critics Choice will at least reward Matthew and potentially the show. I do think Sandra Oh will probably beat Keri there too. I think the Critics Choice did a good mix up of actors. Out of shows I did watch, I can say that I feel like Richard Madden, Diego Luna, Milo Ventimiglia all deserve their nominations. Now that I know The Americans is on Amazon Prime, I can start that show. I feel like the Critics will rewards Rhys here. Them removing Jim Carrey from the film section is hilarious!

Olivia Coleman should be winning the Oscar this year but I'm starting to get nervous they'll give it to Glenn Close as a "career" Oscar like they did Gary Oldman last year. Which is tragic AF because The Wife was incredibly boring and probably the most ironic film I've seen all year. (About writers criticizing bad writing, only for the entire movie to have bad writing)

The only thing I will say about Colman’s win is that having her as lead was weird as she probably had less screentime than Stone and Weiss. But then I never understand how they divide lead and supporting tbh. For supporting, I think Stone was slightly better than Weiss, but it’s a close call. Weiss already won the BIFA for supporting actress though.

Critics seemed not to be able to make their mind with winners, with a couple of categories having joint winners-like Amy Adams and Patricia Arquette and Lady Gaga and Glenn Close. Christian Bale is probably a front runner for that Oscar.
Not surprised with all the love for The Americans and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
