That's weird. I saw Alexis Bledel won for The Handmaid's Tale as well. Yeah, looks like the included all "Guest Actor/Actress" (for comedy and drama) in the Creative Emmys. Because that makes sense, apparently, to someone . Someone from This is us won for Guest Actor in a drama, I know you watched and liked it

Alexander Skarsgard is an Emmy winner! Well deserved in my opinion considering he made me not be attracted to him in Big Little Lies which is monumental because 10/10 would bang.

Good night for the Handmaid's Tale. Not my ideal pick for each category it won but i can deal with that, it was an excellent show. Would have preferred different winners in the acting categories (ERW and Thandie were better than Moss and Dow,imo) but its not the worst emmy result ever. Definitely deserved it for writing though. Love that BLL scooped all of its major awards, well deserved for Nicole Kidman who reminded us all why she is such a big name actress. Wish Westworld had won something but not hugely surprised that it didnt. Biggest surprise of the night was The Crown failing to win, i thought it would be an Emmy favourite. I'm so happy Master of None would for writing too. Its such a clever show and since Crazy Ex Girlfriend was snubbed (fucks sake) it was my top pick.
Eta: oh and San Junipero won. Awesome!

Looking at my predictions earlier in this thread tells me that no one should bet on my predictions...LOL. I was about 50% correct.
So very happy that Sterling K Brown won. I know This Is Us is not everyone's cup of tea but his work on the show is fantastic. It was not surprising that John Lithgow won, his work in the Crown couldn't be denied...it did surprise me that the Crown did not win in any other major categories. As we all noticed, Best Actress in a Miniseries was a tough call and Kidman was a deserving win. I would have liked to see Jessica Lange win, but Kidman deserved it just as much. Once Laura Dern and Alex Skarsagard won, I figured she was winning. Dern and ASkars deserved to win. Alex was horrifying but great in his role in BLL.
I did like Riz Ahmed in The Night Of but I felt John Tutturo deserved that win more.

Westworld got fucking shafted Yeah, I was surprised that they were basically shut out. I know you haven't watched the Handmaid's Tale. As I have said before, it was good, but I think it was praised more than it deserved, especially Moss' performance. I don't hate that it won, it just wouldn't have been my top pick. I did read an interesting article about The Handmaid's Tale's Emmy wins (or rather Emmy domination, since some of the wins were unquestionably deserved) being attributable in part to the current political climate. I think there is definite merit to that proposition. Still, it was good to see Hulu break into the awards in such a big way, and I'm very pleased with at least some of THT's Emmys, and 'okay' with the rest

Still, it was good to see Hulu break into the awards in such a big way, and I'm very pleased with at least some of THT's Emmys, and 'okay' with the rest I wish I had Hulu. I read the book and even though it was written in the 80's, it felt applicable to today's political climate. I can see the wins being partly attributed to that. I will say, Elisabeth Moss is an Emmy darling (I believe she's won for Mad Men and the first season of Top of the Lake, right?)...so her win didn't surprise me. I know Netflix has to be like: Especially since I think Netflix thought they had a good shot with The Crown walking away with more big awards then just supporting actor. DaveyJoe, with regards to Stranger Things, I think their best shot was Millie Bobbie Brown winning in Supporting Actress. Unfortunately, the season being awarded is the one that aired almost 14 months ago and I think the Emmys have a tendency to forget if it's not whats currently on.

Naw, but neither did the voters. Eh, but it would be nice to discuss the nominees reasonably among ourselves Well I'm admittedly not a big TV watcher, and I know my tastes very well to the extent that I just avoid stuff I don't think I'd enjoy. My love for horror and 80s nostalgia/synth music means it's very unlikely that I'll enjoy any of the nominated shows more than I enjoyed Stranger Things. I'm also kind of weirded out by The Handmaid's Tale knowing Elizabeth Moss is a member of one the world's most powerful cults: Scientology.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has said Get Out will compete in the comedy category at this year's Golden Globes. It belongs there, IMO. The Best Musical or Comedy category is kind of hot this year.
My guesses -
LOCKS Get Out - No Way it doesn't make it there Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - assuming it competes in this category, which I think it will Lady Bird
LIKELY The Disaster Artist - This might be too "cult" for HFPA but Franco is already getting rave reviews Downsizing - depending on how reviews go, Payne's new film could go there. I,Tonya - Assuming this also competes for comedy
Dark horse Baby Driver - Before Kevin Spacey, I'd say this was a lock, now I'm not so sure The Big Sick - This was lovely and really popular and it would be nice to see it compete The Greatest Showman - This is the big musical of the year, but it doesn't look very promising, but that's never stopped HFPA before.

kingeomer Critics Choice has American Gods up for some awards. Including lead actor (McShane) and Supporting Actress (Gillian Anderson). So all hope is not lost. We might still see them scoop am award before the show runner debacle closes them down

What the hell is going on there? I saw that GoT did not get a best show nod (American Gods did) but somehow Emilia and Peter got best supporting actress and actor nods
