This is the best thing that has ever happened to me today. They already look much older than they did in the show! Oh yeah they do. They were fantastic at the Emmys.

I second that... I think Maculuay Culkin's dad also ruined his career with ego.

This was awesome. I think the upside down is part of El's imagination or subconscious, and so is the monster. By releasing the monster she in turn expressed a part of herself that is dark and usually kept hidden. But with her powers she was able to make those hidden parts of her brain a reality or create another dimension.
Its very interesting. I really thought there would be more than one monster and i think we will find next season there will be. I also think Eleven is alive. And that night the chief got picked up in the car they took him to her.
I also was surprised to see Nancy end up with steve. I dont think they really suit at all. Sure jonothan fucked up when he got carried away with the camera but he is not a creep. Was just going through a hard time.
I had no attachment to Barb, i felt extremely empathetic for her. She was a good friend abd its something you cant blame Nancy for. She told Barb to go home, but Barb stayed to make sure she was okay and shouldn't have been alone outside. It was hard to care for Will any more or less, but im glad he's alive. Interesting end there with the slug, it somehow keeps his connection to the upside down. This connection is how i think they will find eleven again and is proof she is still alive.
Wow essay alert

Wow essay alert I'm not sure what to spoiler tag and what not to. I didn't feel any attachment to Barb either, and I was surprised that so many people did. I liked her well enough, and I felt a little sorry for her when she got ditched, but then I was like stop being such a judgy wench, why don't ya? I certainly didn't want to see her get eaten by the monster, though. That was horrific.
Whether the dark side is Eleven's imagination made real or an actual place of evil that she merely accessed, I dunno. I think it was the boys who summoned the monster, though, when they happened to conjure him up via D&D at the same moment she created the rift between our reality and the dark side.

Barb died for our sins, you guys. Seriously though, I don't really care for Barb as a character either, but I must admit, I find it fascinating and hilarious how much love she receives from the entire internet.

I think that's an interesting theory about the boys summoning it. There's a few points towards that like when they played the game, afterwards bad things appeared both times. But i'm leaning against it because i am pretty sure Eleven saw the monster before she ever met the boys, so i'm not sure how those would be connected. It could be that it is a real evil though!
the kids are literally the cutest things ever though i can't wait to see them back. its going to be awkward if this goes on for 3 more years and they start going through puberty i want eleven to go to high school with them

This is a really cool analysis. And now I think I get the Barb love more. I liked it as soon as he said the title.

I made Daniel watch the first episode with me. He seems to be into it, I'm not quite sure though. He went to get us some food, then we'll continue watching, maybe we can binge-watch the rest of it tonight ... that would be cool. I'm into it. It's so fucking good. I feel like it's even better now that I've already seen it and know what's going on. I teared up a little bit during the scene where Jonathan and Winona are looking at pictures of Will.

We didn't make it, two episodes left and Daniel already went to bed. I don't think he loves it as much as I do, but I can tell he's enjoying it. I fucking LOVE it. Seriously, for some reason I'm enjoying it more than I did on my first watch. Man, poor little Eleven. She's so sweet and brave.

Done! Daniel liked it, but he didn't love it. I figured he wouldn't be super into it, so I was prepared ... but it's still kind of a bummer, geeking out with him about it would have been neat. Oh well. I'm still Team Jonathan, by the way. He and Nancy are great together, Steve is kind of a dick.
