GRRM needs to shut up and write. I really like Olivia Cooke so I'm excited to see her older Allicent. as someone who doesn't believe he'll ever finish the series (i still hold eternal hope for twow, but that's not even the final book and do we really believe he can even do it in 7 books?), i'm fine with him concentrating more on the tv side. he left got to work on winds, and that still wasn't enough time for him, while the show's quality decreased in his absence. i wonder how much different things might have been there if he was more involved in s5-8, but anyways ..... that's gonna be something this show will have in common with vikings. the funny image of a young actress like olivia cooke playing a mother of grown sons, the eldest with kids of his own.

I've gotta say though, I am extremely disappointed with the absence of an intro sequence. I get that GoT set a pretty high bar as far as intros go, so their solution was not having one at all? I saw an article saying the intro will be on next week's episode I really half expected to hear the Thrones theme again. I liked it too. My cold, dead heart did beat a little bit seeing the heart tree in King's Landing. That was sweet. I like the actors so far. I'm just curious how long each season is going to be in the timeline considering all the fuckery these Targs eventually get in to? Like, how long do they hold off THE dance of the dragons? good, if true about the opening since that was actually my biggest disappointment. i think i read somewhere that if this is successful they hope to make it an anthology series. so a few seasons for the dance then jump back in time for aegon's conquest, which just makes me wish they couldve held off grrm's prophecy reveal til then.

i took a point off for no muppet tully in the oath-swearing throne room scene, but other than that, it was pretty good.

is everyone here excited for andor? Also it will probably be the first show that feels more like the movies - the trailers have really sold that cinematic feel with the scale and the cinematography. Those aspects were really lacking in their last two shows so I’m hopeful that this is a return to form. i think actually shooting on location isn't of the disney+ whatchamacallit helps in that regard. i'm not even worried about it being boring because there's no way it can be worse than book of boba fett. altho i admit to a bias against boba fett as an overhyped character while i think rogue one was the best thing to come out of disney sw, i went into the show with an open mind wanting to be won over.

did anybody here watch better call saul? i might actually have to watch breaking bad now that it's over. Yes! The ending of that show was perfect. Actually having Jimmy learn a lesson was much better than just killing him off or letting him run away.
I think it ties BCS and BB together really well. Give breaking bad a watch. You won't regret it. yeah, the bad takes i've seen on online comments range from it wasn't even real if redemption if he still put on a show and manipulated everyone and kim scammed her way into the prison visit or he should've gotten away with it til the end and fuck kim for ratting even tho he dared her to or it should have gone full dark with saul getting killed in prison. from what i can tell having watched only this half of the brbaverse, it is neither a straight morality play where all sins are equal whether the lies hurt nobody or ruin a man's career, nor it is some grimdark edgy for edgy's sake shit where evil always win and everything is 100% suffering. yeah, i started brba last night with the first 3 eps.

I honestly think a lot of people have a misconception about Cat's and Jon's relationship. They seem to think that Cat and Jon were like Cinderella and the evil stepmother to each other, that Catelyn abused Jon and actively sought out ways to be cruel to him. I don't think that's true, at least we have no reason to believe that it is. All we know is that her treatment of Jon was cold and distant, but not evil. What happened in Bran's sickroom was an isolated incident and we should treat it as such. Of course it was still a pretty despicable thing to say to a teenage boy, but it was not how Catelyn usually talked to Jon, she was not really herself in that moment due to grief and exhaustion. I love that aspect of her character. Martin could have easily written her as the perfect mother, who accepted her husband's bastard into her home with open arms, but he didn't, he decided to make her flawed and resentful, which makes her a much more complex and interesting character in my eyes. It makes me love her even more. I agree. The best evidence we have for this is the way Jon's siblings love him. If Cat were cruel and vindictive, she would have raised them apart from Jon, so that they would not have been friends. She would have taught them to hate Jon, to be jealous of him or to ignore him. It seems like Sansa was a bit of a butt to him, but she was like that to Arya too. We know the other siblings loved him. Jon/Arya's relationship could have actually given her reasons to disapprove, given that he encouraged her unladylike pursuits, but there's no sign she ever tried to curtail their involvement. In Arya's scenes with Jon, they talk about Sansa and Septa Mordane but not Catelyn's feelings towards Jon or thinking him a bad influence. I don't doubt that Sansa's understanding of Jon's bastardy came from Catelyn but I think her insistence on calling him half-brother had more to do with Sansa's own efforts to be prim and proper rather than Catelyn teaching her to be a little snot, which assumes she tried that with all her kids and only succeeded with Sansa because Robb, Arya, and Bran were just inherently better than Sansa. Which doesn't make sense because Robb and Bran were both quite close to their mother, and Arya always defended her and clearly did care about her approval.

Also liked Brans arc, sort of. What I mean is, I was entertained by it, and there were some cool reveals. But in terms of the larger narrative, it feels a bit off, because he has travelled all that way to find Bloodraven, lost Jojen, almost died a few times, Meera was almost raped, and what for? I think the problem here is residual from him being cut from season five, we should have seen more of his training to justify his long trek to the North Did Bran even have an arc? Most of his screentime was flashbacks which weren't really about him, and then suddenly he's the 3ER and wtf does that even mean?

Theon also had a big transformation from 5.10-6.10. He now has a place in the world as an ironborn, a Greyjoy, with a relative who bears no grudge against his foster family, which was really all he wanted all along before fucking everything up for himself back in s2.

Well, we do know the 3ER can enter people's dreams. Does undead Benji still dream? Or did the new 3ER, Bran, somehow call out to him without even realizing it? And how the fuck did Benjen know about Bran witnessing the creation of the Night King? If this guy doesn't re-appear once the Wall is down, we'll have an even bigger mystery than when he was gone for all the seasons before now. I don't think Benjen knew Bran knew about the creation, He probably just assumed me did when Bran started talking about it. Like in an "oh yeah, figures" kind of way. No, Benjen brought up the creation, not Bran.

And why didn't the 3ER and the CotF tell Bran his uncle was out there? I doubt they didn't know. Seriously, those guys were such dicks. Also "The Three Eyed Raven sent for me." How? Did he write you a letter and send a raven? Did he make a tree do something weird? Did he warg into you? How?! Well, we do know the 3ER can enter people's dreams. Does undead Benji still dream? This is one of the reasons I'm no longer active on Facebook. I have no desire to bang my head against a wall with my Republican extended family, or my wannabe-cop stepbrother.

I assume he'd go to Winterfell as well when the Wall comes down, but what has he been doing since then? If he knew the Three Eyed Raven, why didn't he come to the cave earlier? I can't decide if I think he was trying to spy on the White Walkers or just kill as may Wights as he can. Or if there's more CotF somewhere out there he's been with. And why didn't the 3ER and the CotF tell Bran his uncle was out there? I doubt they didn't know. Seriously, those guys were such dicks.

I need to bask in this thread after reading a thread on /r/ASOIAF. I'll never understand how Cat gets so much hate. What particularly confuses me is the haters who consider themselves fans of Ned, Arya and/or Brienne, 3 people who would jump to her defense if they heard the things said about Cat or the way people twist their relationships with her around.
