It really is a damn shame that Charlize Theron wasn't nominated. I don't pay that much attention to the awards shows, honestly, but if anyone was in stand-out role this year for me, it's her.

For me, the great snub this year was Idris Elba. And Jacob Tremblay. Supporting actor could have been so much better.

His theft of Boyhood's/TGBH's Oscars last year still hurts. I don't think I can deal with him winning again this year

Theron's work in MM is still my number 1 performance in any movie last year, I don't think DiCaprio can dethrone her

I'd have to agree with Idris Elba being the biggest snub, considering that he was getting nominations left and right for that role. And the young man for Room. In Elba's case, the fact that the movie was playing on Netflix and maybe a few theaters...I think the Academy was like nope and the fact that the director came right out and said he did not expect the film to take home Oscar nominations months ago. I thought he might have been wrong given the other nominations but he turned out to be right.

Idris wasn't as big of a snub as Abraham Attah for Beasts, IMO. He was a lot better, though I would've been happy with Idris being nominated. Tremblay, Dano, and Shannon not being in that category is criminal.

The Revanant is bleak af too but hey, Leo, Hardy, pretty cinematography - that's something. Beasts looks so bleak even I don't wanna watch it and I adore Elba

It looked like something that would cause a person to shoot themselves after watching

It looked like something that would cause a person to shoot themselves after watching I did not see that one....but maybe the Academy was having a moment and they vowed to never repeat it? Not that this has anything to do with the Oscars but Johnny Get Your Gun was one of the bleakest movies I've seen. Of course that came to my attention after the video for Metallica's One song and I was like, um, thanks Metallica?
