^That's interesting.
And yes, I can't wait to see Stannis' nod! And Slynt's head roll, of course.

It's been mentioned by some reviewers who were going off the screeners they were given that the Small Council scene in E2 (where Kevan huffed off) was actually cut up and the Small Council scene from E4 (where Mace is tasked with going to Braavos with Meryn) was actually part of this first scene. If you watch the E4 scene, it does seem obvious that it starts as a cut from a longer sequence before it. I can see why they would have made this change as Cersei sending Mace away is followed quickly by her getting Loras arrested so you can more easily follow her motivations. It's also nice to get 2 Small Council scenes instead of 1. However, Mace is still present at King's Landing in E3 at Margaery and Tommen's wedding so it makes you wonder how they originally had the scenes ordered as this would seem to be a big change. I think the reviewers who made that mistake just confused the two scenes. Because the leaks we watched WERE the screeners they were sent.

Different versions of screeners can go out to reviewers, that happens all the time. Sue at WoTW was pretty adamant that she re-watched her screener and that's how the scene played out in E2. And if you watch the E4 Small Council scene, it starts basically in the middle of a scene so you can see where the cut is. Now I like what they ended up doing and the cut isn't really noticeable unless you're looking for it but there definitely was an original ordering of the sequence that was much different than what ended up airing.

I just checked both scenes and Mace is wearing different costumes in them. So is Cersei, as well as a different necklace.
I could make postimgs to prove it if you want.
EDIT: Here's one for Mace. postimg.org/image/b4ek0fc69/full/

Well photographic evidence is pretty hard to deny. And Mace really couldn't have been sent away until after Tommen's wedding so I guess that solves that.

I wonder why Sue the Fury would claim otherwise then? Of course I can't put my postimgs on WOTW to prove it to her because you can't link content from the leaked eps. there...

Maybe she just really thought that was the case and didn't actually bother to watch the scene closely, who knows? If you watched all 4 episodes, you could easily make the mistake that the 2 scenes happened together.

In 502 Varys says to Tyrion that Volantis is road to Meereen. I could be looking too far into this, but I've seen this theory made by others. We know that The Golden Company is in Volantis so could that mean that Varys secretly met with Illyrio/JonCon while Tyrion went to the brothel or did Varys actually know that Jorah was going to be there? Unless Varys's original plan was to just take a ship from Volantis to Meereen, which would disprove the theory. Most likely Varys won't appear again until the finale, but I wonder what he would be doing between the time Tyrion is captured and arriving back in KL to kill Kevan and Pycelle.

I'll admit I did not read all 50 pages of this thread, but since I'm new to the forum, I'll throw in my admittance to having watched the 4 leaked episodes. I am then re-watching each week's legit HD HBO episodes to get a better feel for the full glory of the filming.
I don't watch the series to be a book vs. show stickler - I watch it to immerse myself in a world I only previously got to imagine in my head for the past *almost* 20 years (holy shit has it really been that long?!). I'm also very weak at resisting temptation for spoilers which is why I generally stay off the forums and blogs and media for months before the new season. Being a Walking Dead fan helps in that regard because I just follow that show's current season when everyone's speculating and spoiling casting for GoT.
All that being said, I will admit to crying on several occasions in the 4 leaked episodes and almost wishing I hadn't spoiled it for myself. Shireen and Stannis moment, big tear jerker - Stannis offering Jon Snow legitimacy and Lord of Winterfell ... best silent moment from Kit ever and that's saying a lot since he's often so surly and silent anyways. The Jaqen reveal moment was epic for me because I didn't know the actor had been recast for this season, managed to avoid that spoiler so it was a leaping out of my seat cheering moment. Even though I have reservations about them replacing the Kindly Man (or not) with him for the overall story arc, it makes a lot of sense for the show to keep someone well known and loved from before.
Awesome 4 episodes overall even if I disagree with some of the massive plot changes. I've disagreed with some of them in the past seasons and managed to get over it and still enjoy the show because again, I don't watch it for purism, I watch it for immersion enjoyment. They do such an amazing job with the sets, costumes and overall epicness of the story that it's easy for me to forgive less than stellar acting or plot changes.

I hope they keep Varys killing both of them in the show. That was such an awesome moment.

I think Varys meant Demon Road.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the first 4 episodes. They are definitely moving further off from the original content than they ever have before. Some of it I might have enjoyed, admittedly, but some of it just...feels off?
Stannis and Shireen did a great job with their scene. Maybe it's because I have a daughter myself, and it showed Stannis' human side. Such a rough, crude, stern man, but he does have a heart.
Jaime going south I can kind of get into...maybe. But the Sansa story threw me completely off. She's a beautiful girl, and I think she's doing great with it, but I can't say that I am "in love" with the changes or the direction they are taking her character.
Overall, I think all the episodes have been 7s, and maybe one 6 out of 10. All sixes and sevens baby! Good TV..er, HBO. But no episodes worth a 9 or 10 rating from me just yet.

Has anyone even seen Bowen Marsh in the episodes so far or is he just remaining a background character? He's apparently credited for Episode 1 - 3.

He's standing by Thorne and Slynt during Mance's burning in 501 and sitting with them during the election in 502. In 503 he's sitting beside Jon at the first NW meeting when Fetch Me a Block happens. That means he has just one more appearance this season (his CV says he's in 4 eps.), this time in a Podeswa episode, either 505 or 506.

I think you mean before Janos's execution, but ok that makes sense now. I really thought they were casting him for a bigger role, but guess not.

Was the NW guy who talked up Denys Mallister given a name because as it stands, this guy has had a bigger role on the show than Bowen Marsh.

Yep, I meant Fetch Me a Block/My Sword.
