I don't mind either way. Whatever you guys want I'm cool with. It's a fast read either way.

True - they don't take a mammoth amount of time like ASOIAF. Lets see how many others want to do a re-read on it and decide then. Might be some not reading this post or the forum as often right now.

I've watched Mockingjay Pt 2 and I quite liked it. It doesn't feel like a big finale, so I can understand the disappointment, but it is a really dark and bleak movie. It's basically a war film.

It's literally too dark at times. They used too many black out shots and there are long stretches were you can barely see anyone. The film was right to be bleak, but that was a bad choice direction wise.

I still haven't seen it and I probably won't until next week. I'm just curious about two things (and obviously book spoilers ahead!): Did they include the scene where Coin lets the previous victors vote on whether or not there should be one last Hunger Game? And I assume they killed off Prim and Finnick like in the novel, so were their deaths as gruesome as they were described, like ... I mean, did Finnick actually lose his head? Can't wait to watch this movie.

The film was right to be bleak, but that was a bad choice direction wise. Scenes where you could barely see anyone? I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about the scene in which they got attacked by the mutts? I thought that scene was fantastic and quite creepy.

Yes, the scene with Coin is in the movie. Finnick and Prim both die. Finnick gets eaten by mutt zombies until Katniss mercy-kills him with a bomb. Prim's death is the same as in the books.

That, and some of the other scenes where they are running through the Capital. It's like they used the wrong kind of filter on that lens, it made everything kind of hard to see. I do agree that scene was very creepy, and at least they let Finnick go out like a hero, which is better than the complete afterthought they made Prim's death.

Strange, those scenes didn't bother me at all. I could see everything just fine. Prim's death felt like an afterthought to me up until the scene with Buttercup. That scene changed my opinion. Jennifer was fantastic in it and it explained Katniss's reaction. She was trying to be strong and stoic, but when she saw Buttercup, every emotion she had been suppressing came out. I actually teared up.
