I get excited about any TWOW news, but I don't think the "news" today adds any hope we are getting it soon. He released a chapter he's read years ago. He acknowledges the book is haunting him "monkey", which we already knew. I'm holding out hope we get it before Season 7 Part II starts script writing, because I want more than his outline feedback on the show's ending. I think GRRM is really trying to finish TWOW before season 7 so he can publish another book while he can use the GOT hype to promote it. I would imagine if he thought that he could finish before S6, that he is close enough or within reach of finishing it this year. Time will tell.

Since he said he still has a ways to go at the con he was just at, I'm going to say he won't be finished until next summer at the earliest so sometime around or after Christmas 2017 for publication.

K, I used to say that JOKINGLY. hahaha. I've given up on predictions. My last one for book release was that it would be announced at the end of episode, wait for it...Winds of Winter. With a follow up on Not A Blog, of course. Yet, I was wrong...so fuck it. I'm done waiting. Winter comes when it comes.

So in France Winter comes in springtime... Amazon.frWhat is the assumption here? That Amazon France knows something no one else does? That's some specious logic. It's nice to see people have another place to poke at George in the comment section, though.

What is the assumption here? No asumption at all... but unless George gives us something to talk about, any absurd rumour is welcome for distraction from eternal boredom... And at least it provoked statements from Random House and Harper Collins

Carry on with your bizarre hopefulness!

Won't that be around the same time as the Season 7 Premiere?

So, GRRM gave an update (kind of) about TWoW in a comment in his " not a blog" Which honestly, is not an actual update. He just says he's not done (we already knew that), that he has made progress (after a whole year that is not surprising, what would be nice to know is how much progress he has made, but he will never give that kind of info) and that he thinks it will be done this year but to his credit admits that he thought the same last year so don't get your hopes up. I feel like maybe TWOW could be released this year or the next one, but is just a hunch. I imagine his editors will be urging him to finish so they can release TWOW when GOT premieres, but that is not an actual factor to consider.

I've stopped trying to guess when we'll see this book. It's beginning to sound like a pipe dream.
I don't know how he could still be so far behind when he seemed to have a ton of left over chapters from ADWD to use.

I don't know how he could still be so far behind when he seemed to have a ton of left over chapters from ADWD to use. I've come to the conclusion that scrapping the 5 year gap was a huge mistake, because it forced him to make huge adjustments to the story he had planned. Even if he calls himself a "gardener", it's clear he knew where the story was going up until ASOS, and he published the first three books really fast, but after he decided not to include the gap, he became slower and slower as a writer.

Not really excited for it considering how much it gets delayed several times.
