It struck me today that one of my favourite authors is going to have completed and entire trilogy since...well not even since aDwD came out. The first in the trilogy was released August 2014. Then August 2015 for the second. Third was delayed due to writing difficulties and will be release in just over a week. And these are long ass books. And thinking on it now, Hugo winner N.K Jemisin will be finishing up her trilogy this August. That trilogy began 2015. Basically, it's just struck me how long it is takin for these books. It still doesn't bother me, he can take as long as he wants to, I just think it's funny when I look at other novelists in comparison

The Winds of Winter won't be published this year nor early 2018, that's for sure.

The day we get a release date, I'll probably jump for joy, but right now, I can't say that I care all that much.

After the show ended, the books becomes more complicated to predict. Besides the confirmation from GRRM that the show ending will basically be the same in the book, he needs to wrap up so many storylines and POV characters, and will take eternity before he dive into the political plot (like how effective does Dany rule in Westeros before Jon is gonna kill her).
In TWOW we have: - Battle of Winterfell - Battle in Meereen - fAegon and Dorne - Cersei plot - Jon and the NW - Sansa and the vale - Brienne and Jaime with LS - the Others - Euron - Bran - Arya - Dany with the Dothraki and going to back to Meereen (and maybe sail off to Westeros at the end)
My new predictions: - Stannis does indeed die during the battle of W - Davos will return with Rickon’s safely back to Winterfell - Jon will be back and rule as king regent for Rickon, but becomes king when Rickon die (maybe by assassination). - Euron and Dorne allied with fAegon, arrive to Westeros where Cersei surrenders. - Cersei and maybe Jaime dies - the rest is history (Arya, Bran, Dany)
At the end of TWOW, it left with 3 competitors of the Targs, aka the Three Head of the Dragon: Jon, Dany, and fAegon.
