I think we'll learn more about how Benjen's affliction works for him, but I doubt he's a type of thing of with established rules. I think he is the only one like himself, a fluke of circumstance.

i didn't quite get if the White Walkers stabbed him - leaving him to turn into one of them, or leaving him to die - turning him into a wight. I think NK was just impressed because Jon managed to kill one of his men. But anyway, the WW magic was already at works with Benjen, so the CotF shoving the dragonglass into his chest stopped the magic. I think it's more likely that the WW tried to turn Benjen into one of them, rather than into a regular wight.I've often wondered why they don't just turn wildlings into White Walkers if this is the case? They've had access to tens of thousands of them and yet they only raise them as undead which are more vulnerable than White Walkers. So I think there's more to it than just touching them on the face like the baby-turning we saw way back when. Maybe they can only do that to Craster's babies because he willingly "Sacrifices" them? The Night King very obviously wasn't a willing sacrifice though since as a man he was tied up and struggling. Not that Craster's sons had any choice in the matter either. I wonder what happened to the baby they turned a few seasons ago, does he grow super fast in order to fight or is he as White Walker day care waiting to grow up? Is it even going to matter.

This made me laugh! He's gotta be pissed they keep bringing little undead wight kids home for him to play with. Those kids are not very fun.

Just order them to do whatever you want with you mind, like this..." makes Wights kids breakdance in the ice.

I need that and some mention of Hodor and Summer next time we see Bran.

I need that and some mention of Hodor and Summer next time we see Bran. we really do need some acknowledgement of them, out of respect. But I feel like we need more information to know how this new stage in Bran's life works and maybe through that we'll get more information on Benjen. I figure he won't be able to cross the Wall at first but once it comes down, he should be able to cross it. "Daddy Night King, these kids are just mindless, they don't know how to play?" "Icepick, I've told you. Just order them to do whatever you want with you mind, like this..." makes Wights kids breakdance in the ice.

Dude, someone needs to draw that.

My theory is that the White Walkers only can have/want to have a finite number of them in existence (like the council of 13 or something similar). Everyone else just gets wighted. Occasionally, they need to replenish their ranks so they do the rare, special White Walker maker ceremony.
I have no idea what happens to the WW Craster babies but I like to imagine that the WW leaders will eventually show up with a huge backpack and just unleash a bunch of them on unsuspecting opponents during a big battle.

It's a fair guess they don't have infinite powers to create more of themselves for some reason or another otherwise they would have done that a thousand years back and taken over already. As @witchy said, Benjen's situation was probably a fluke of the natural process and he's the only one like him but I hope we find out a little more whether he's half White Walker (and thus has powers) or he's just half Wight (they are supernatural strong and fast though).

So far everyone we have seen killed with a White Walker sword has just died and then been resurrected as a wight. We have only seen White Walkers made through magic, that one baby and the original version. Do we have any reason to think that Benjen might be part White Walker? It really is curious why they haven't made more...like enough to take over the world. There were more WWs present at that baby-Whitening ceremony than have shown up to any battles. Wonder why they're hanging back and where they are currently. Wonder if they have WW babies and ice spiders with them.

Because he said that the Children of the Forest rescued him and stopped him turning into a Wight by putting dragon-glass through his heart just like they did to the Night King. My assumption was that process reversed whatever was happening to him to become undead but didn't turn him into a White Walker either. It's a little confusing.

I would think that they (the Children) could manipulate the way their magic is used. So, the dragonglass would be kind of like a want, they used it on the Nights King to create a creature who would destroy the humans but they used it on Benjen to reverse him becoming a Wight.

you mean that the white walkers tried to make him one of them? i think they just intended all of his party to be wights but the cotf decided to intervene with benjen, leaving othor, jafer flowers, and the others to be turned into wights.

Another great video from Alt Shift X. I feel like these videos are compulsory in every post-episode discussion thread He makes a great comparison between Walder, Balon, Randyll and Tywin and their motivations and how they treat their sons which I never really considered.

^The guy playing the Mad King looks so much like Ian Holm in that still.
