@witchy, I think this thread is also safe. How would you rate the episode?

@witchy , I think this thread is also safe. How would you rate the episode? I gave it a 7, but that may change on rewatch. Underwhelmed by: Brienne continuing to be a plot device; Dorne storyline; Varys and Tyrion strolling around without guards; Cersei's reaction to Myrcella's death. Loved that Theon was willing to sacrifice himself for Sansa ; her exchange with Brienne and Pod (forgiving how Brienne showed up to begin with); Arya's brutal training; Ghost's howling and the way Davos took over at the Wall; Edd's reaction to Jon's death (that actor is good); Mel reveal. Edit: Oh, also loved Dany's interactions with the Dothraki. I almost forgot about that scene. I thought it was odd that one of the Dothraki men said he likes to talk after sex. Really? A sensitive blood rider? Okay.

I gave it a 6, but I think it would have scored higher if I wasn't so damn spoiled.
I'm obviously thrilled to get the show back. Brienne, Pod, Theon and Sansa were awesome. Davos keeps getting more likable, if that's possible. Edd was fantastic. I felt bad for Cersei (which is kind of hard actually).
I don't know how I feel about the Dorne stuff. It's almost like D&D decided to eliminate the storyline since it was so poor received from Season 5. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. But I'd like to see at least one Sand Snake casualty in that rebellion. I keep reminding myself: Dorne wasn't great in the books either.
Mel's line about seeing him in WF was about Jon! Being ancient is such a cool confirmed twist. It's also further proof that this woman has powers that work.
I'm just really worried about Ghost. Only death can pay for life.
EDIT: In terms of openers, I'd have to watch them all again to rate. But Two Swords and the Pilot still stand out for my favorite.

I hope they don't kill off Melisandre. She's too interesting for that. Also, there's no way they will not have UnJon and Mel interact with each other. (Also, Melisandre still needs to walk the walls of Winterfell and meet Arya again)

Gave it a 7. The ending was creepy and fun to watch. And Dorne was interesting, although I wish it had gone otherwise. The Dorne scenes have always been weak, in my opinion, so although I didn't like the events of this one, it was the first time I actually think a Dornish scene turned out well done (even if I didn't like what transpired).
Normally love Tyrion and Varys, but the scene was slow and weak.
For a season kickoff episode, I'd say this one was pretty well done. They're normally quite boring.

Agreed about Dorne. It wasn't that bad, although I'd like to see Doran's men fight back a little, like I said.

Carice did a fabulous job conveying her new 'broken' Melisandre expressions. She even spoke softer and weaker. She's good.

I don't know why, but I didn't really enjoy it. The plot felt a bit choppy and off at times. I must admire D&D how they made Dorne even worse.
Here we go, the pros and cons + Cersei & Jaime, a nice emotional scene, well acted + enjoyed the Wall, explaining Ser Alliser's motivations ++ The North, great fight scene and really enjoyed the acting of Sophie, Alfie and Gwendoline. Iwan and Michael were great as well. I can feel the conflict between Roose and Ramsay coming. + the scene with Margaery and High Sparrow was great. + Tyrion and Varys doing an indepth analysis of the crisis in Mereen + Melisandre "reveal" was quite horrifying. I can't wait to see what happens with her. + Emilia was exceptional
- Dany & the Khalasar, was I the only one who felt that the Dothraki dialogue was quite poor? The two dothraki threatening and joking about Dany was quite silly. The dialogue was quite poor and felt like it was written by a horny 12-year old playing Call of Duty online. - Jorah & Daario, nothing but a filler scene. ------ Dorne, what a colossal piece of shit. I must admire D&D how they made Dorne even worse. Felt like a rushed, unnecessary massacre, just so we can start of the season with some good old shock. Poor poor poor. They just effectively destroyed house Martell?

But I did like Emilia's acting here. I agree with others that she acts better when not speaking English, or engaging with giant sperm balloons

The whole "only when fucking your grandmother" line felt really off.

8/10
Overall Favorite is Sansa and Theon escape. The chase music was a great piece of music. I enjoyed the fight overall though the disappearing dogs is noticeable. The fealty scene was simple and fantastic.
The Wall was overall well done. It was nice for Edd to get some nice screen time and given some nice lines. Davos was great as expected. Allister can really defend his action very well and it make him one of show better characters. Melisande reveal was well done and give a hints of things to come in the show.
Cersei and Jamie scene was really good. I liked Cersei speaking of the prophecy to Jamie.
I found Dany scenes to be very good and enjoyed the return of the Dorthraki.
Everything with the Boltons, Tyrion and Varys, and Arya was really more setup. Some nice moments in each but not much going on.
Dorne is just a hot mess. I kind of like they just went crazy at this time. I actually liked Ellaria speech to Doran as he was dying. Trystane is just an idiot.

Honestly it was pretty good minus the ~3 minutes of Dorne I give it an 8
