I think there's just the typical time jump mystery that happens a lot with the show. The stories don't always parallel one another exactly in time and I've stopped trying to puzzle it out. They are each stories within their own setting and time periods apparently.

Solid buildup episode with a good ending. I'll have to rewatch to decide on a number though. Considering this is probably going to be by far the most low-key episode of the season I'm fine with what we were given. Yeah, premieres are always setup pieces in GOT. Besides (101 and 401 aside) premieres are always amongst the weakest episodes every season, so no doubt the best is yet to come.

Really good episode. I enjoyed all the scenes, except for the "You're sometimes a bitch, you know that" line.
Overall, a 8-9.

After a rewatch I'm going with an eight. I mean, I voted an eight to begin with because I figured that fit but thought there was room to go either up or down after some reevaluation. And it still seems about right. Solid is still the best word I can use for this. The Meereen and Dothraki bits were more comedic than I expected which gave the two-thirds-through section of the episode kind of an odd tone given what preceded and followed it...but other than that and a few small quibbles it did its job of setting things up and building interest pretty handily. The North and CB were the strongest storylines as they were last year, especially all things Davos-Mel and Sansa-Theon. And of course we had Lena owning the KL swath of the episode and NCW playing reaction-shot second fiddle quite well too (it looks like he'll be getting his chance to do some more intense acting next episode but here it was more appropriate for him to be more subdued and just listen to Cersei).
If it had've been longer and had another interesting setpiece in it I would've gone higher. But 8 is pretty good for a premiere, I think.

Same and you also catch a lot more on the second watch.

really enjoyed the premier! I don't know if it helped that i knew things were going to happen, but i think it probably did, especially in regards to the mess that was Dorne..I didn't hate the acting, in terms of that it had improved. But geez do i hate the direction they chose to go. Trystane was right... you are my family, i don't want to hurt you. The sand snakes were completely mis-characterised but i guess they suit the way the show wants to take that storyline.
Moving on, the only other thing was that the Jaime-Cersei talk was a little underwhelming to me. I liked NCW over Headey here, the intensity in his voice was awesome.
I would have liked to see more Carice in the episode, in that way it was a little underwhelming... has she given up? But i think everything at castle black was awesome. The North was awesome, sansa made me teary. Love that Theon is back and Pod got to fight! Also like the parallel between theon spearing bolton guard #4 in the back, kind've a throw back to when pod saved tyrion's life by doing the same.
I do enjoy Conleth hill as Varys and the banter between him and tyrion is always good. But a little bored with the story so far, hopefully the priestess spices things up. Mereen seemed weirdly deserted?
Dany with the dothraki were awesome! the new Khal is cool. Dany telling him how its going to be was just so good.
i give this one an 8. will probably watch again tonight anyway!

NCW over Lena?! i just thought NCW showed more range in the scene, though its not really Lena's fault, she was just playing sad and hopeless. I like fiery, sassy Cersei better.

Gotta love Setpa Unella's sass Forgot about the Ramsay scene... didn't quite like it. Don't really care for Ramsay and his 'problems' love that Roose continually trolls him Forgot to mention ma girl Arya. Cool scene, really love the waif. she is a good actress. And their fight scenes in the future i'm really looking forward to.

After having rewatched the episode just now, I'm changing it to 7, mainly because of the shitshow that was Dorne. The rest of the episode was pretty great. Especially that Sansa & Brienne scene, which might be one of my favourite scenes in the entire show. Gwen and Sophie were really wonderful.

Septa Unella has to be one of the best things to come out of the last two seasons Never have I been so impressed by repeated delivery of a single word before "Confess." "SHAME!"

Just watched it and I have to say that I'm impressed. I expected to like it far less after the leaks. Great scenes:- Everything at Castle Black. It was all well-done and acted. The dialogue was great and effective. I felt really bad for Melisandre, which I didn't expect at all. - Cersei/Jaime. Lena's acting was brilliant as always and my God, it's so good to see NCW in a great scene again. I loved the writing here, because the words were so... "direct" and "open" and yet it didn't feel too straight-forward either. - Brienne/Sansa/Theon/Pod. Yeah, one of the most beautiful scenes the show has ever done. I loved how Pod helped Sansa and Gwen's acting was amazing. The way the scene mirrored the S2 scene with Catelyn was so touching. Good scenes: - Dany. Emilia was great and I loved that they did that "I understand what you are saying, bitches"-thing again. Also, one of the Dothraki men was hot as fuck. - Arya. A solid scene. I have nothing much to say about it. I liked it. "Okay" scenes:These scenes were not bad, but not excellent either. - Daario/Jorah - Tyrion/Varys - Margaery/High Sparrow - Ramsay/Roose Bad scenes: - Dorne. Ok, let me just say that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think the scene with Doran and Ellaria somehow worked...? The acting was ok and so was the dialogue. In fact, I think this was the best Dorne scene in terms of acting and direction yet (which is not saying much). BUT the idea of killing off Doran is in itself a valid point of criticism. I don't like that they've made this decision. The scene with Trystane, however, was one of the dumbest things this show has ever done. Seriousy, it was so bad. All in all, I'm actually quite satisfied with the premiere. Konrad is right, it's not the worst premiere. I think it's better than 201, 301 and 501, so I'd say third best premiere is quite the achievement. Fuck Dorne, the rest was good. But I wish they'd be a bit more careful with logic and continuity (where did the Hounds in the Sansa/Brienne scene go? How did the SS get on that ship?). 8/10.

I feel so bad for Toby Sebastian, he seems like such a nice guy in interviews and he always seemed really excited to be on Game of Thrones. And they gave him the dumbest death scene ever.

An eight.
Like many others already said, it was a solid episode. The Wall and the North were the highlights, Dorne was shit, and Daario & Jorah felt bit unnecessary. Other storylines were okay.
