Better than expected. I gave it an 8/10. Premier's aren't usually the best episodes as they are usually a reintroduction into the story. This was not the case as much this season. Did you complete your goal of reading all the speculation before the season started? I agree, better than expected. I didn't hate Dorne as much as I expected. The Doran kill can be justified, but not Aero just lying down dying after being stabbed in the back (unless it will be explained the dagger was poisoned or something).

I did, with about 8 days to spare. I'm going to go with the poisoned dagger. A bit like the fact that Mel's age is now showing when she removes the necklace because she is losing her faith. Although I think the latter probably has some truth to it.

7. As far as premieres go, this did a great job of getting the ball rolling except for Dorne. It loses major points for Dorne. And Jaime and Cersei, their relation still bothers me.
Edd got a bunch of lines!
Davos and Brienne were BA
I got a lump in my throat when Theon hugged Sansa. I felt like he was thinking of Robb and his betrayal there and how he wants to make it right for the Starks.
Margaery is plotting, Dany was so smug and I loved that.
Tyrion and Varys had great banter, but I wish there was more of it.
Poor Arya.

Theon really seems to want to make it right for the Starks. He knows he chose wrong. That scene was so good and Alfie was aces as usual.

Just came back from the theatre. Watching this on the big screen was quite the experience.
Once again, Podeswa gives us great images after great images. That opening shot is a beaaaaauty.
Loved the Sansa/Theon/Brienne bit above all, closely followed by Cersei's scene.
A great start to the season overall.

This year we don't have Jack to give every single episode a solid 10, that makes me kinda sad

I gave it a 7. I really enjoyed the scenes with Davos and Edd and it's all definitely leading to Wun Wun smashing through the fucking gates! Sansa and Theon's scene was pretty intense, but their hug was probably one of my favorite moments of the episode considering how much they've been through. Dorne, I didn't care for so I was just waiting for the next scene to come on. Cersei and Jaime's scene wasn't bad either. Lena Headey knows how to make you feel bad for Cersei. I wish Tyrion and Varys's scene was longer and I also felt like someone was watching them the entire time. Surprisingly, I thought Emilia was really good in this episode. I think she's much stronger when speaking Valyrian and Dothraki. Yo, The Waif gives no fucks and I knew that going in, but damn she's really beating Arya to death. I'm really interested to see Mel and Davos's relationship from here as well.

Emilia rocks the Dothraki - she can sure get a bitchy "Don't fuck with me" voice in that and Valyrian haha - love her!

8. Some things nagged at me, some things annoy me. Most of it was good though. Solid builder and big shock finish (that we all knew 2 days ago,but still...) puts a new spin on things.

Hopefully they'll limit how much they put in one episode over the series, which they usually do anyway. I think they just wanted to show us where everything from last series went to. Honestly though, did anyone else wonder how Jaime got from Dorne to Kings Landing in about a day?

Trystane and Tyene both had longer hair, there was enough time to get a letter back to Doran, and D&D straight up said on the Inside the Episode that the past two months have been hell for Cersei. So it took about two months.

So it took about two months. Counting the season 5 stuff I think. Jon hasn't been dead for two months, Sansa and Theon haven't been running for two months but I'm pretty sure you're joking. I hope you're joking... The time in between Game Of Thrones series is always wierd, people talk about the war going on for years, the kids getting older etc. To be honest, I think D&D just wanted to get away from the Dornish storyline as quickly as they could and opted for a quick out.

Solid buildup episode with a good ending. I'll have to rewatch to decide on a number though. Considering this is probably going to be by far the most low-key episode of the season I'm fine with what we were given.
