Good job on the 4.01 recap, morgantayler. (And of fucking course TDD had to comment on Tywin getting a blacksmith from Volantis instead of Qohor.)

The Lion and the Rose (S4E2) my favorite background moment.
During Joffrey posioning, you see Tywinn go to cover Tommen's eyes as everyone is watching Joffrey die.
I thought it was a great and subtle way to show where the power is shifting and Tywinn's ability to recognize and act on it.

TDD actually admitted the rest of the ep was good, but he was really hung up on the Qohor thing. And Sean C. had his requisite remarks about Sansa's agency even though he never has a receptive audience for that at WotW.

You never stop discovering things in this show.

I just rewatched Sandor's trial via YouTube. I think that fight is one of the best, if not the best, the show has done. The choreography is excellent, and the atmosphere is great. Far better than Oberyn vs Mountain IMO.

Far better than Oberyn vs Mountain IMO. Couldn't agree more. I think it's one of the best realized moments from books to show. The difference in styles of fighting is so apparent. The flaming sword in the dark cave adds to the beauty of the choreography. And Rory really does a great job of emoting fear, frustration, and rage all at once. I also love that Arya keeps getting in the way, and then tries to go after him and has to be held back.

Far better than Oberyn vs Mountain IMO. I agree. In fact, I was slightly disappointed wiht the Oberyn vs The Mountain fight. Yeah, Pedro's acting was magnificent and there were some cool lines, but the fight itself was choppily edited. Too many quick cuts. On the other hand, the Beric vs Sandor fight was awesome. The creepy cave, the fire (Sandor's biggest fear), the shadows projecting everywhere... You can almost smell the heat, the sweat and the blood. The choreography is outstanding, building up a tense, dramatic clash. Besides, it was far more realistic than most fights in the show. The only other contender for best fight in the show is, for me, Bronn vs Vardis trial by combat in Season 1. Of course, we all know that these fights will be eventually eclipsed by Cleganebowl (a.k.a., the duel that was promised).

Pretty cool. They saved the best for last with House Targaryen too.

Just re-watched 4.09 yesterday and will probably do so again today before 4.10. I'd forgotten that Sam was responsible for Olly killing Ygritte before accidentally encouraging Olly to betray Jon.

I just re-watched Ned's beheading, which is still so sad even all these years later, but one little detail I never noticed was Varys running over to Cersei looking like he was trying to talk her out of it.

That scene has my favorite "show only" addition to date. Ned saying Baelor to Yoren to indicate where Arya was. Just perfect
