I thought I'd create this thread, because every now and then people rewatch old seasons and share their opinion in random threads or even in Confessions. And since the Bluray of S5 is coming out next month and many of us will probably rewatch it then, we need a place for any future discussions. I've been randomly watching S5 scenes during the last hour and I have to say that one arc I really, really liked but seldom gets talked about is Arya's S5 arc. I think it's her second best one (if not best one). I just love the philosophy in her arc.

Nice thread! I'm just starting my annual rewatch now. I will post my random thoughts about it here. The last episode I saw was "Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things". A nice little episode, a bit slow, with lots of exposition, but I really love the ending: Cat confronting Tyrion in the Inn.

The lost of identity and the death as an act of liberation are strong themes. It is a slow, thoughful arc. It was overlooked by many because its lack of action, but I enjoyed it. Specially Maisie's acting. She gets better every season.

I just love Braavos generally as a setting because of my love for Venice. As for rewatching, I don't think I'll start my pre-s6 rewatch with my mum for a month or so. But when we do (this time on-demand not on DVD because the HD's better on-demand ), it's good to know there's a thread for my thoughts. I've seen every episode of this show so many fucking times. I know it off by heart basically and somehow still haven't gotten sick of it. It's like listening to the Beatles for me.

I'm unsure if I should do a complete rewatch or just a S5 rewatch before S6.

Always.
The thing is that I have so many shows to catch up with and I've seen S1 and S3 I don't know how many times.

Just like the "nothing is nothing"-scene in S4 that so many people criticised for some reason. I, however, loved it. And then we had this: I screamed when I first watched it. It's so good. And my first thought was "Tarantino!!!" and when David Nutter revealed in an interview that this scene was pretty much inspired by Tarantino, I was happy. It's so obvious, but in a good way.

Cat in the inn is legit my favorite ending of the show, I still sometimes get chills when I watch it lol. Wasn't even close for me till Hardhome. That ending was just perfect as well. I've watched season 1 countless times and choice episodes like "What is dead may never die", "Blackwater" "And now his watched his ended" "kissed by fire" a decent bit as well. Thinking about doing a proper rewatch before season 6 though. There are so many eps I haven't seen since they aired.

I just love rewatching Season 1. dem feels I know. I'm just in the middle of rewatching it. It's small scale, the budget is noticeable smaller, but it has an amazing pace. The storylines are few, so they are all very well focused. Mark Addy, Sean Bean, Jason Momoa and Harry Lloyd were totally perfect in their roles, I miss them so much. And it is the best season for Dany so far, IMHO.

Update on my rewatch: I saw today "The Lion and The Wolf". Good episode. This one was owned by Mark Addy. He got two absolute brilliant scenes.
The first is the long talk with Cersei about their marriage, widely and rightly regarded as one of the best scenes from Season 1. We see the more human Robert here and we can feel his pain when he says "You want to know the horrible truth? I can't even remember what she looked like. I only know she was the one thing I ever wanted... someone took her away from me, and seven kingdoms couldn't fill the hole she left behind".
The second one is an underrated great scene: the small council meeting when Eddard refuses to be part of the murder attempt against Daenerys. Here we can see the commanding fury of Robert at his peak, specially when he says: "Honor? I've got Seven Kingdoms to rule! One king, Seven Kingdoms! Do you think honor keeps them in line? Do you think it's honor that's keeping the peace? It's fear! Fear and blood!".

I know some thought this scene was corny, but I thought it was so hot.

This scene always bothered me: Old Bear: "Did you send the ravens?" Sam: "No." Old Bear: "You had one job!"
Well how the fuck was he supposed to send those fucking ravens when he was down shoveling snow with Grenn and Edd?

Update on my rewatch: I have just seen "What is Dead May Never Die" (02x03). After the fairly weak first two episodes of second season, this is when things start to move again. So many things to love here! Tyrion's scenes with Pycelle, Varys and Littlefinger telling them to whom he plans to marry Myrcella, Theon burning Robb's letter and being baptized and Yoren telling Arya his backstory and his ritual prayer of revenge, that will be later adopted by Arya. By the way, Francis Magee was the perfect Yoren, another reminder of the sheer amount of wonderful actors who have been on this show.

Other than Blackwater it's the only other real gem of season 2 imo. Great episode.
