I've been in the mood for some Final Fantasy lately, so I think I'm going to start a new game in FF7. Problem is, as soon as I reach the world map, my OCD kicks in and I have to spend the next 3 to 5 hours doing nothing but random encounters in order to obtain all Limit-Breaks for all available characters. It's like how in FF10, I just cannot leave Kilika before Lulu learns all second tier spells, or how in VIII, I need to have all the best weapons on Disc 1. Whatever, has to be done. And this time, I'm going to work towards going on a date with Barret.

Last time I got to end of disc 1 I was over level 50 because I wanted Aeris to get Great Gospel. I will definitely be playing the ps4 port of this.

And I hope they add trophies, I'm a trophy whore. My OCD is at its worst in FF10. As I said, I never leave Kilika before Lulu learns all second tier spells, which usually means running around in circles for 2 to 3 hours, doing nothing but random encounters and overkilling all enemies. And obviously, every character needs to receive EXP, so in every fucking battle, I constantly switch between the characters and let them all defend for a single round. All third tier spells need to be learned before I leave the Al-Bhed Home, which again means mindlessly grinding for several hours. And finally, before I confront Yunalesca in Zanarkand, every character has to be done with his or hers individual path on the Sphere Grid. There really is no need for all that, FFX is not a difficult game by any means, but I do it anyway, just because. I like to use Doublecast Ultima on Seymour to make him feel like a fool.

This sounds really exhausting, tbh. I'm exactly the other way around. I love to be challenged by a game, so I always play on hard and try not to overgrind. There's nothing better than the feeling of finally having defeated a boss after a hard battle.

Does anybody else play FF14? It's actually really well done, not a huge time sink like FF11 was. I've played most of the classes and they are all pretty fun, it's probably the only MMORPG I've played that can give WoW a run for its money. They put out new content at a surprisingly high amount that makes the monthly subscription worthwhile. They just put out the first expansion and the story is phenomenal, and feels inspired by ASOIAF in some ways.

And the sooner I do that, the better. Besides, there is always more than enough optional stuff to do and optional bosses to kill, and those will provide you with enough of a challenge, even if you've maxed out the stats of every character (I've done that more than once, but I still haven't managed to defeat Penance without Yojimbo). It's probably for the best, they can be addictive. I've found myself spending an entire day playing FF14, part of the appeal is how immersive it is, there's always more stuff to do. I totally get lost in the world sometimes, and yes, I'm a cat lady Dragoon. Deal with it.

Yeah, I can understand that style of playing a game. Wanting to get all the things, I mean. But for some reason I'm not that kind of gamer. I immediately start to lose interest in a game after having finished the main story. Therefore, I don't have the urge to max out the stats of every character or to collect all the items. Just give me a good main story with good battles and I'm happy.

Freya was a great character, but I wanted my avatar to be adorable, especially since FF14 is more Japanese-esque than the single player games. Does anybody else switch the voice acting to Japanese and turn on subtitles for their FF games?

I don't find Tidus as annoying as most people seem to ).

Pff, I've seen bigger dragons in Dragon Age. Twizzler Dewdrop is a beautiful name though, truly a worthy name for a legendary hero. I love how it combines the sweetness of candy with the melancholic beauty of a dew drop.

When you approach the dragon and fight it, you only are as tall as its ankle. But the Dragon Age games are fucking awesome as well. And yes, I'm quite fond of that name as well.
