By the way, I'm afraid I have to agree with Basil and say that FF9 is probably the best FF game (after FF7 of course ). 7>9>10>6>8. I haven't played 1-5 and I just ignore the ones that came after 10. FF9 is the best game ever made and that's just fact. After 9 comes 8 > 10 > 7 > 6 > 10-2 > 4 > 12 > 5 > 1, 2, 3 > 13 >>>>>>>>>>> 13-2, Lightning Returns I would actually put LR ahead of XIII-2. At least the gameplay was novel?

ikr. I mean, it was years ago so I don't remember but I probably cried. It was magnificent. Then XIII-2 happened. I don't even know what the fuck to say about that anymore. I also like sad endings, so Serah dying suddenly in a "we should have seen this coming" kind of way is normally the kind of thing I would love, but after all the fucking bullshit that came before it all I could really think about was how enraged I was that the cliffhanger meant another fucking game. Lightning is also such a dull protagonist. Like, she is basically just a female Cloud, and Cloud was dull (sorry to his fans). Another forum I visit occasionally had someone talking about how much they wanted Lightning to appear in FFXV and I almost exloded. what the fucking fuck. no. she should not. she should stay the fuck away from the rest of the franchise outwith the crossover crap like Dissidia. I'm calling it: Lightning will be an optional DLC character in the FF7-Remake. It is known. Cloud isn't dull, he's just broken ... - and I'd actually say Lightning has much more in common with Squall from FF8 than with Cloud. But at least Squall has got a good excuse for being a dick, and he changes during the course of the game. The cliffhanger in XIII-2 was crap. I mean, the entire game had such a carefree, happy atmosphere to it and then suddenly, boom, let's just kill off our main protagonist for no real reason, shall we. I hated it, but from a gameplay's perspective, I hated Lightning Returns more, just because the constant pressure of time literally gave me migranes. I hate it when a game forces me to rush through it and LR did just that.

I don't want to interrupt your discussion, you can ignore me, but I can't wait to play the creepiness that is Nibelheim in HD.

The thick and sinister atmosphere, the incredible music, the mystery ... I mean, you never know for sure what really happened at Nibelheim and I fucking love that. And let's just pretend that Crisis Core never happened, shall we. I like that in the video you've linked Cloud was named "El Boner" and Tifa "Dumb Hoe". By the way, @kairos - you said that you've finally played FF6. Out of curiosity, who was your favourite character or characters? VI has such an amazing ensemble of different characters, so I'd really love to know. Mine are Terra and Celes. Terra because from the moment she appeared on screen during the intro sequence, I fell in love with her (and her theme song) - and Celes reminds me so much of Beatrix from IX (who I also loved), and she is in the center of the two most beautiful scenes in the game, the opera and her heartbreaking suicide attempt.

So long as they are making Final Fantasy remakes, I remain confidant that we may one day get FFXII... If only.

I'm probably alone here, but I think Final Fantasy Tactics is the best Final Fantasy. It's like Final Fantasy as written by GRRM.

Plus Im pretty sure a HD remake would be based off of IZJS anyway...

I wouldn't say it's the best Final Fantasy personally, but I really do love Tactics a lot. Storywise it is definitely among my favourites, I'm just not a huge fan of the combat system.

Yeah, mine are probably Terra and Celes too. I also liked Shadow as well, but that's more because I enjoy playing badass ninja assassins. Please don't remind me of Beatrix. Everything about that character just makes me want to cry. I love her.

I also love her theme Rose of May.

This needs its own thread. I seriously had dreams about this for years and the moment I gave up on it, Sony's press conference happened. I know some people are afraid that they'll mess with the story and the characters, but I'm quite optimistic on that front. What worries me is the gameplay. I wish they'd do a modernized version of the FF7 battle system, but I'm afraid they'll change it completely and do some bullshit system like in 13. What's your take on that? www.ign.com/articles/2015/07/30/final-fantasy-7-remakes-combat-will-feature-dramatic-changes-draw-inspiration-from-advent-childrenOh my. 'Advent Children' will serve as a source of inspiration? Does that mean the characters will be spending more time in the air than on the ground? I don't know what to think of that, I mean, the battle scenes in AC looked kinda epic, but they were also so freaking over the top. And they never bothered to explain why all the characters could suddenly, well ... fly, basically.

Ah. FF7. My soul aches to replay it. Waiting for PS4 port.
Remake? I'll take anything. I was saying I wouldn't want action/ff15 combat but I haven't played ff15 yet obviously so I might like it more then I think.
If its anything like Kingdom Hearts combat then we're good to go. I know I'm in the minority but *hides inside a bunker* ff13 like combat would be fun too. Turn based but action too.

Hell, yes! It was bound to happen at some point and I'm really looking forward to it. I've always wanted to play the IZJS version of FFXII.

Still no release date? FF Versus XIII/XV was announced back in 2006, now it's 2015. I don't think I've ever heard of a game that was in development for almost ten years. Oh man, we wanted to go to Gamescom this year, we had already bought tickets and everything, but it turned out my boyfriend had to go on another business trip for the whole week (at least it's his last one this year, thank god). And because I couldn't find anybody else who wanted to go with me and I didn't want to go alone, I sold our tickets on Ebay.
