I've just quicly read your post in your blog about the deleted scenes. Apparently there are many more? Like the one of your avatar? I agree that it seemed that Joker only did a cameo. I'd have liked to see more of him too, since the only one I knew about apart from Joker about was Deadshot and just a little of Harley before the movie aired (and that is thanks to Smallville, mainly). My avatar is from Jared's ad for Gucci perfume The only scene that Jared has in the movie that was not drastically shortened is him in the ending, breaking out Harley. And the only reason that it was not shortened was because this is a scene from Spring's reshoots - in original version the ending was different. About 20-30 minutes of his performance are gone. The whole thing in Harley's flashback - the electroshock scene and quick glimpse of her holding a gun to his head - those were long separate scenes. We know all of this because there was a test screening of the movie in Spring and now there is a novelization of the movie out with all of those scenes. Furthermore the soundtrack has music from those scenes. WB released a nurtured version, yet proceeded with marketing as if they released full version. It's a mess of biblical scale, truly. In the original cut Joker was also present in 3rd act of the movie, fighting the Squad. Harley chose them over him and he angrily threw a grenade at her yelling "Bye, bye" (we saw that in trailer). WB got rid of any trace that the relationship was abusive. I was abit confused with Harley and Joker. The electroshock scene means that she is willing to receive them so as to completely go crazy to be able to be with him? And then when the Witch makes them dream, why is that she prefers being "normal" with a joker...not as Joker? Does she remember when she was that way and rejects her current situation?

And then when the Witch makes them dream, why is that she prefers being "normal" with a joker...not as Joker? Does she remember when she was that way and rejects her current situation? The movie was following a previous Harley origin, one in which she was a psychologist in Arkham treating the Joker and believing she was making progress while the Joker played with her mind to make her fall in love with him. The electroshock I think was original content from the movie, and at least to me it didn't look like she was consenting to it, more like she was being brave before the torture began. But that was before WB decided to portray the Harley/Joker relationship as not abusive. Which is kind of hard when the footage you filmed and the scenes you wrote were about an abusive relationship. That's what makes it confusing. Harley's dream about a normal life was added during the spring reshoots, and I guess it means that deep down Harley does want a normal life, but she still wants it with the Joker, who is never going to be stop being the Joker. Which is tragic, I guess.

Yeah, this was supposed to be in the TV thread But to be fair, the same could be said for WB execs.

So , Suicide Squad , crosses over to 700 million world wide , and the take in Japan is not even listed. Guess if it ever opens in China that would put it up at 800 million (the China deal is still confusing). Well that's flop by current film pundit standards! ... but I don't think Warner corporate will be crying.

(the China deal is still confusing). No it really isn't. They aren't allowing it to be released because they don't think it passes their censorship qualifications. it's actually pretty simple.

Their censorship qualifications are simple , ok, but still inscrutable, this after all is not an R rated film like DeadPool.

"A black hole of rage and confusion" sounds like the reaction to the theatrical release.

Their censorship qualifications are simple , ok, but still inscrutable, this after all is not an R rated film like DeadPool. Apparently they are really iffy on supernatural elements over there. One of the characters is supposedly a sorceress or witch of some kind? So I think that is what killed its chances in China. why couldn't they release this theatrically :/ Joker stuff looks cool Looks like this will be the version for me to watch for the first time. Interesting that this is happening, because David Ayer denied the editing controversies. It's funny because WB seems to have screwed up by going against David Ayer's vision, but this is just after they received flack for giving Snyder too much creative control. Bring back Nolan!
