Ok, we all know Stannis was killed by Brienne of fucking Tarth / Brienne Ex Machina / Brienne the Inconvenient Bitch or whatever you want to call him. But, after reading interviews of Nutter, D&D and Gwendoline Christie, what if Stannis is alive?
Here is David Nutter's interview: variety.com/2015/tv/news/game-of-thrones-season-5-finale-jon-stannis-deaths-david-nutter-1201520137/
Here is what Nutter says about Stannis's death scene:
The first thing he says is "That was basically in the script", concerning the fact that we don't see Brienne's sword coming down to meet his head. He didn't confirm Stannis' death. He only confirmed that us not seeing it was in the script.
Also, IMO it's stupid that D&D said that it was better not to see him die. Why? I am sure they know Stannis has a very large and stubborn fanbase. If I were them, I would have shown that Stannis really dies, to make sure everyone understands that the Rightful King has fallen. You can't kill him offscreen. That's like Robb dying offscreen.
Then there's this tidbit what D&D said:
I think Brienne showing up to kill him should alert people. But maybe that's just my weird too-devoted loyalty and paranoia.
Also, in the Inside the Episode -video they don't talk about Stannis like he is dead. So...
Then there is interview with Gwendoline Christie (http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/15/game-thrones-brienne-stannis), even she doesn't call Stannis a dead man:
So far she has fought the Hound and supposedly killed him, and we all know how that turned out (CLEGANEBOWL!!! GET HYPE!!!). Now she killed Stannis in the name of false king Renly Baratheon. And Christie clearly says: I wish it were true. This rings bells to me.
All this says to me that King Stannis Baratheon is still alive, Brienne didn't finish the blow. I don't really think what he could do anymore, unless he joins the Watch and dies a heroic death against the White Walkers. Now that his army is gone, Mel left him, Shireen is dead, he has lost, I see no reason to think why Stannis Baratheon would be alive. But these clues tell me otherwise.
So far, we have nothing to say that Stannis is dead, except the Viewer's Guide. I may be wrong. So, sue me.
Feel free to destroy my argument.
BTW, how can a big chunk of one's army just leave in a middle of nowhere without anyone seeing? And where the fuck did all those deserting sellswords go? Deepwood Motte?

Here is what Nutter says about Stannis's death scene:
There’s also speculation about whether Stannis is truly dead. We didn’t see Brienne deliver that final, fatal blow.
"I think that was basically in the script. Dan and David felt it best not to be gratuitous with that. You really got a sense that Stannis had nothing else to live for. Brienne’s life-long mission had come to an end. It’s a situation in which Stannis was ready to die and prepared to die. It would have been gratuitous."

“Stannis did the worst thing a person can possibly do in the world, and when he realizes it was all for nothing, I think he’s probably ready to be done at this point. In a way, Brienne showing up to kill him was almost a welcome relief.”

You’re just hell-bent on killing off characters that are still alive in George R.R. Martin’s books aren’t you?
"I wish it were true, because then I might be in this until the very end!"
