Yes, I know. My point was that, if Dany (the character) can lift them, why wouldn't the dragons be able to escape easily? Well ... look how much they've grown this year ... we got to see them up close ripping that slave master in two - they are nearly as big as Drogon so it's entirely possible they could break their own chains by now since they have clearly grown. Damn you Daenerys - that was one of your mistakes little Queen! Now all we need is someone to roll that heavy door open ... Which even a SotH could do...

What bothered me most about the scene in 4x10 when Dany chained her dragons was that she lifted those metal chains by HERSELF. How can those chains keep two furious growing dragons imprisoned if a young woman can lift them. They're made of Mithril. Do you even books, bro?

I'm not saying they were, just that just because the metal wasn't too heavy for Emilia to lift doesn't mean it wasn't tough. In any case, my issue with the chains is not that she could lift them, but that they appear to have grown in size with the dragon's necks.

I am talking about Daenerys, the character.

I do get it that she didn't want any more children to be burned, but there had to be some other way - or if there weren't, she made a HUGE mistake just leaving them down there to be miserable. That was one of the things that really, really bothered me about ADWD, is that she just chained them down there and left them! I'm sure somebody threw meat their way or some such, but that's like solitary isolation! So, after all these posts, I'm beginning to hope we do get to see some R & V action in the final episode. I don't understand why any of the remaining SoTH would want to loose them, especially since 3/4 of their team were just fried by Drogon. Not sure either Daario or Jorah could free them without being burned - ? I like the idea that they break their own chains - I just hope they're not too pissed at Dany by this time to remain on team Targaryen!!!

I think it would serve as a good reason for her to distance herself from the other two and focus on Drogon, who she now has a stronger bond with from their first flight and spending time together in the Dothraki Sea while she has her personal coming-to-jesus moments and gets her head on straight what she needs to do. She can't ride all three dragons anyways so having them physically separated from her down in that dungeon was probably a good way to get them on their own so that they can connect with others in the story (hopefully) and get their own riders. Not that I'm agreeing with her mistake, it was still a mistake, but I'm hoping it serves a greater purpose in the long run.

In a perfect world, the other dragon riders would be Vargo Hoat and Locke. Sigh.

And when you get down to it, one can't just walk up to a dragon and say, "Hi, how bout I jump on and we take a spin?" In all seriousness, though, of course you're exactly right. Wonder if Jorah does speak more than a phrase or two of Dothraki? Seems he did in the first book. And I wonder if the dragons remember him - I would think they would. It might be a way for Jorah to get back into the story, a way for him to fight on Dany's team again. I have no idea what would happen if Daario went down and tried to free them.

If it's true that dragons and their riders have to have a connection, then whoever they 'choose' would likely have some sort of old Valyrian blood in them. Fortunately the Targaryens were a very prolific family before most of them got snuffed out and there's quite a bit of their blood in a lot of the Noble houses of Westeros haha. I don't see Jorah being a rider, nor Daario. I do see Tyrion as one despite the hilarity of the image it brings. Now that fAegon has been erased from the show thus far, I have no idea who else could ride one ... oh except that one Stark dude up at the wall maybe.

I could see Dany holding "Dragon Tryouts" when she gets to Westeros. Anyone with Targaryen or Valaryon or Blackfyre blood in them could show up and see if they qualify by getting sniffed over from a dragon. Of course, if you fail the test, you could end up like Quentyn Martell, hah.

Actually, dragon tryouts are exactly what happened in The Princess and the Queen.
