I think this season has been pretty educational. I've got one ep left now. Lolly  Poussey The final episode was so tense and chilling and heartbreaking at the same time. Seeing the Poussey flashback really got to me |

I'm half way through the season. Still hate Piper(who needs a real plot line besides her panty business, growing paranoia, and now her "carer" group turning into a white power group), hate the new guards, and hate Linda. I feel like we are not seeing as much of the cast as we used to. I am guessing to allow them time to work on other things. Lea De Lauria (Boo) has album of Bowie covers that she did and she was touring for that (she's a wonderful singer if you have not heard her). Here's Lea DeLaria singing a jazzy version of The Ballad of Sweeney Todd. It's awesome.  Her voice is beautiful! Thanks Basil! |

Finally finished the season.
Fucking Caputo, I thought he was actually going to do right by all parties there.
I still can't stand Janae, she's so awful and mean.
I also don't see the point of Judy King.

Finally finished the season. Fucking Caputo, I thought he was actually going to do right by all parties there. I still can't stand Janae, she's so awful and mean. I also don't see the point of Judy King. She had some really great scenes in the last episode, though. "You tell them to arrest that murdering guard and get our girl off the floor, Taystee! You tell them! This shit ain't right." I liked her in S1 when we got her story and she was fleshed out, but ever since she snapped at Yoga Jones in S2, she's only been on "angry" mode and it's hard for me to appreciate anything she does because she's just cruel all the time. She's barely above Piper in my "do not like" category.  |

See I really love Janae and have been hoping she would get more to do since Season 2. And then this season she got like 15 minutes of screen time or something  Her and Cindy remembering Possey was hard though. Especially the funnel Wee thing where they started laughing and felt bad about it, because that rings true to life IMO. At the funerals I have attended, I've often found something funny in a memory and smiled, or laughed, and it always makes me feel awful for doing so, As I do every year, I have already forgotten the names of half of the characters. Wonderful. I did like the addition of the Muslim woman to Taystee's family though. From the trailers I thought they were going to make the Muslim/Jewish tension one of the serious plot lines but I actually think it worked well as a comedic element, given that it was Cindy who was involved. A little sad we didn't see more of Jewish Cindy though, and that we completely dropped the character who helped her convert last season |

I also don't see the point of Judy King. I finally finished this season last night. I did not see the point of Judy King myself. I am really hoping we see her use her celebrity in the way Yoga Jones was advocating...that she goes out there and exposes Litchfield and what happened to Poussey ( , Gods I am going to miss Samira Wiley on this show...she was my favorite). Norma singing to Soso really got me That broke my heart. Taystee crying when she realized what happened, also broke my heart. I thought this season was an improvement over last season, definitely. But some of the plot twists were a little unbelievable. How in the world could Piscatella interrogate prisoners and constantly go over Caputo's head? Maybe this is why I should not watch this show with the husband who said, there is no way that prison wouldn't be on lockdown and the feds would be there in a heartbeat with a dead body discovered. Same with Poussey...the prison was already a crime scene...her family would have a HUGE lawsuit not even including what happened to her but how the aftermath was handled (MCC not calling the police????). Telling her father 5 minutes before the press conference? I get they were hitting us over the head that for profit prisons benefit no one...I just wish we had a little realistic handling of the matter. We should be seeing Poussey's family next season with a huge lawsuit against MCC. Perhaps joined by Sophia's family as well. Humphrey needs to be seriously punished. Count me in as disappointed that Caputo did not do the right thing by all parties. |

I don't know as much about for profit prisons, but it wouldn't surprise me if ones were corrupt like that, but yeah if you're in the business it's annoying when you have to suspend disbelief like that.
Caputo's girlfriend is the worst. She needs to go.

It's leaked.  It doesn't seem to be the final version though, the editing seems unfinished, there are audio issues and almost no music. I watched episodes one and two, but I think I'm gonna wait until June and watch the rest legit. Judging by the first two episodes, this is going to be a weeeeird season. |

I watched the first two seasons of Orange is the New Black and I just couldn't love it. I was a big fan of the show Oz, where a character died almost every episode. So when I watched Orange is the New Black, and tensions would rise between characters, and to resolve conflict they would simply.... talk about their feelings, I couldn't stand it. There was no catharsis for me! It was very frustrating. Give me the violence!

Well, Orange is the New Black takes place in a low security prison, and the majority of inmates are non violent criminals, so it makes sense that there is not a whole lot of violence going on.
I love it, it's one of my favourite shows that's currently on. The cast of characters is so large and diverse, and both the writing and acting are absolutely amazing.
I also think that compelling drama can be created without killing off characters in every episode.
