Yes. When its surrounded by dozen of stories better than in the show it is I remember being bored a lot during AFFC and ADWD. I was never bored during season 5. But then again I remember you giving good grades to episodes 5x01-5x08. So I'm not sure why you are arguing that the entire show was bad, when you actually only disliked 5x09 and 5x10? Maybe I'm mistaken. Yep you are. I talked about my grade ststem a whole bunch of times and frankly it would be a waste of my mobile battery to explain my points to you again. I have no intention of running around in circles

I dont consider these books to be some great literature but implying bad pussy will surpass them is a bit much If it follows the same trajectory as GwtW, bad pussy will definitely surpass fat pink mast. The GwtW movie didn't surpass the book because it was better or worse than the book, it surpassed it because it became the version of the story the majority of the world came to know. The whole point of my earlier post is that the movie is canon because it was an official version of the story and it surpassed the book because it is the version that everyone knows. That might happen to GoT but at this moment it's hard to say what will happen with the books when all is said and done. At this time, however, more people know the show's version of the story than the books' version so it does seem to be on the same trajectory. It is an official version of GrrM's story that is spreading much farther and faster than the book version. It is a 2nd canon.

I'm sure we all come off as show apologists Sati. When I say the show is canon, I'm not saying it is better than the books though. Not apologizing for anything Both versions have their strengths and weaknesses but a book is a better version of a story 99% of the time, imo.

I'm not sure why everyone is here arguing about that canon business. You can call it canon, fanfiction, adaptation, whatever. In my personal opinion the show - which in case some of you missed it - I gave good grades to for majority of season 5 based on benefit of the doubt that the story lines will go somewhere great or at least comprehensible and it all ended as if I ate a meal that started fine and ended up having explosive diarrhea - is badly written. I said why before. It's my opinion. It's well shot, well acted and the music is wonderful but the script is bringing all of it down. And now it brought down the already almost non-existent prestige of Emmys down too. What Martin thinks about it, what you guys think about what change my opinion on how much of a turd that finale was. And the ending is the most important thing which D&D and Martin keep going on and on about.

Yeah....I linked my recap somewhere here in this thread and honestly I don't want to talk about the single worst ep of that show like ever again?

The lack of LS soiled all the Cat's scenes for me and what they did to Stannis killed my desire to ever watch his scenes again, so in a way what was done in 5th season ruined the entire show for me. I used to rewatch it every year but I don't anymore, nor do I think I'll rewatch again for a very long time.

I didn't just like the first four seasons, I loved them (except the finale of Season 4) - but knowing what a train wreck S5 was (IMHO!), and knowing that LSH would never show up, it has affected my enjoyment of the previous seasons in a negative way.

Yeah I mean it's just ruined because you know where the story could go and instead what we got was so underwhelming and in case of Cat and Stannis' stories how it went down and what replaced it just downright offensive to the fans

I have a different opinion, but I can symphatize and I get your point. I'm sorry that you feel this way. To be quite honest, I don't mind when people dislike the show like you do. Some of your ways of expressing your dislike just irritated me (e.g. mentioning "bad pussy" all the time). But your last two posts made it clearer.

What irritates me is that I'm required to lay out complex reasons over and over again or I get shit for encapsulating it in two words that basically telegraph the quality of the show's writing now. Also what irritates me is two hacks depriving me of my favorite character and replacing it with a bunch of crap but what have you, c'est la vie. Apparently.

I don't get why this has to be said so emotionally and polemically. I respect your opinion and you. Sati, I like you. I really, really do. But you have to expect people to react to you like they do if you express your opinion in the way you do. By the way, this is not meant as an insult. It is just an observation I've made.

Well let's see - it is known my two favorite characters are Stannis and Cat. Frankly the only thing surprising here is assuming that someone who likes Cat/LS and Stannis would like this finale or be all "YEY" about this writing winning a major award.... And since we are keenly sharing observations here, what I did observe was patronizing "oh didn't you rate episodes high? maybe I'm mistaken" so maybe you too should expect me to react to you like I did if you express yourself in that way? Also not an insult

PS: I hope anyone on twitter who follows Cogman thanks him for putting her in her place and I hope others are as well. If enough people put pressure on her via positive reinforcement to those who actually have some pull (like Cogman) then maybe they'll finally put a muzzle on her. Hmmm...the only one who can muzzle her is Mr. Martin himself. I see no movement at all coming from that direction. Now, considering that Mr. Martin is not my bitch, he is entitled to surround himself with whatever people he wants. It´s just a little odd that he was very outspokenly supportive of the Hugo-winning piece on hate-trolling (Requires Hate), but is very indifferent about a known hate-troller that defends his interests and co-authors books with him. Go figure. Well, he DOES need Elio to manage his aSoIaF-lore backshop, so there´s that. But in the end, is it really all that relevant ? From a completely different, twisted angle, I can almost understand Mrs. Linda A.: This is the lady that, until the beginning of 2011, was the all-encompassing despot dominating all of the conventional aSoIaF-fandom, with Adam Whitehead meandering across fanboards from other authors keeping tight lids on the self-declared supremacy of aS0IaF over any other works. Those were extremely repulsive times. Four and a half years later, the TV-show and its success have washed like a tsunami thru this constellation. The fanbase incl. power structures have changed completely and Linda A. is feeling the crunch. Cogmangate should have turned into a major shitstorm, but what we got in the end is a lukewarm fart smelling of Swedish smorgasbord. So carry on, Linda - keep us mildly entertained.
