On an 'individual level', EVERYTHING that happens is important. On a plot movement level, which is what I'm discussing, it's not very apparent. In any case, I'm done debating. As I said before, I never mentioned this to change peoples' minds. I mentioned it because people don't seem to understand why others don't like her. And as someone who never liked her at all, I figured it was only fair to give my own opinion on the subject. I have no wish to continue a fruitless debate that is completely subjective and based on opinion only. I hate unnecessary resurrection that essentially ruins a good character. I even hated it in Gandalf's case, because he was nowhere near as interesting or cool as he was before he was resurrected. I hate it in Catelyn's case because it has stripped her of everything that made her 'her', and has made her into nothing more than a shell of hatred and vengeance. All of that is true...it's just whether or not you like that kind of thing in your story. I don't. Obviously, some of the people around here do, and that's fine. But there's nothing 'wrong' with disliking what Martin did with her character, nor is there anything 'wrong' about not seeing the necessity of it at this point in time. Maybe I'll change my mind later on, but at this point, I would have rather the living got vengeance for the Red Wedding...I mean, the entire North hates the Freys and the Boltons, so I don't see why we need zombies to take care of it. You should stop watching the show. We have unBeric, will have (SPOILERS) unMountain next ep and the main fight of everything is against a whole army of, as you say, "zombies". So much for a realistic story that shouldn't bring back Cat because that would be "fantasy" or "cliche" There's no need for that. I don't tell people to stop watching or stop reading something, or vice versa. I thought this site was for sharing opinions without others being judgmental. It's not disrespectful to others to have a different opinion. And I agree with the above poster. I didn't realize that this was "The Lady Stoneheart Appreciation Thread"...it just said "Lady Stoneheart", so I thought it was a catch-all thread for people's opinions on the character. I didn't badmouth anyone in here for their opinion...I simply gave my own. And if the intent of the thread is to be 'positive only' association, it should perhaps be clarified in the title. |

There is no such thing as an echo chamber. People disrespecting each other opinions about characters is offensive and that is not the purpose of these forums  maybe some people didn't notice but this happened more than once here. And I disagree it should be on the title, it is common sense you don't go to a Sansa thread filled of fans and call her a spoiled traitor or whatever |

Saying that LS is probably cut, or that LS isn't important, or that you think LS is just a zombie, is not disrespect. If I came in and said "Y'all are morons for liking LS", now THAT is disrespect. And frankly, I don't think the number of fans in the thread is relevant to the discussion, whereas the title actually is. Also, echo chambers are totally a thing. Check out "Nitpick without Repercussion" for an example. |

But I don't believe it was before. People have been debating about Stoneheart story value throughout the thread without the mods stepping in until this point. Which is why I'm saying it should be clarified from the beginning so as to not cause these highly frustrating discussions. Because I thought this WAS the general Stoneheart thread, and that is what it was presented as, both in the OP and in the title. And now I will actually withdraw, for reals. Good luck tonight. |

Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with sharing one's opinion, even if goes against the "flow" of the thread. On the contrary, conflicting opinions are what keeps threads and discussions alive.
But I don't see the need of using terms like "useless zombie", to say that she was Martin's biggest mistake, or being smug and condescending about it, etc., because such comments are sure to offend fans of the character, who will then respond accordingly, making the whole discussion much more aggressive and unpleasant for everybody.

I'm strangely calm about this. I don't know why. And you guys surely know by now that Catelyn/LSH is one of my favourite things from the books. Maybe the episode activated some kind of coping mechanism in me. Maybe my anger and sadness will surface in a few days.
