I don't think anyone really likes Olly. I don't mind him at all. He's got his load of shit (his parents getting killed by wildlings), and now he's a steward for Jon. Of course, he can't forget about his parents. And who killed them. It's all a matter of one's POV, of course. Jon wants the wildlings to help him, even wants to protect them (because of the upcoming threat of the Others), and of course, Olly can't see that. In his situation.

Didn't like him last season. I'm 'warming' to his character. I don't really get the point of him, or exactly what he does other than steal Edd's job... I'm sure he'll get some actual development this series. Also, rewatched epsiode 4 and noticed the Jaime Bronn scene with whole "dying in a womans arms" bit from Jaime and Bronn asking "does she want that?" Foreshadowing Jaime killing Cersei? I know lot of us were predicting this one... He stole Satin's job, not Edd's. Well Edd and Satin were both stewards to Jon in ADWD. And since Satin isn't even a show character yeah you could say he stole Edds job

Also, if you're looking for even more confirmation that Greyscale coming to Westeros is a big deal in the books, tonight's episode was a good one. Obviously, JonCon bringing it over is important enough that the show gave the action to Jorah. In my mind, this also likely means that Faegon is confirmed. I'm guessing the show's writers, with knowledge aforethought or simply through supposition, have reasoned that a true Aegon is wholly unimportant to the endgame of the story and so can be safely jettisoned. Ditto, JonCon. Thus, it falls to Jorah to get greyscale.

Oh god I've just realised what if Olly is the one who cries and says "For the Watch" rather than first-time-speaker Bowen Marsh? I will lose my shit (again) if that happens

I hope it's Olly. He has more character development.

Bowen Marsh was an obtuse piece of shit character who had it out for Jon from the start. Not sure why fans have so much of an attachment for him.
You'd think that a kid that Jon took under his wing and is trying to mentor just as the last LC mentored him would be a more dramatic candidate to have turn on him but naw, it's probably better that it's an unlikeable a-hole who was never inclined to ally with Jon in the first place.

He stole Satin's job, not Edd's. Edd is Jon steward before he gets sent away from CB, isn't he? Only until Satin takes the black. It's clear that Olly is taking up the Satin role. Also, Edd seems to be a ranger in the show, so it makes no sense for him to steward for Jon in any case.

I mean he has appeared and done things, like arrest Slynt and stand against Thorne, but no speaking role so far. Maybe he'll go hardhome with Jon? I hope so.

Olly will definitely be in on FTW - sadly. I don't even feel much for him so I wonder if show-only fans do? I mean, I guess we're supposed to sympathize with him from the horrific wildling attack on his village/family ... but for some reason I don't. Maybe because I'm already damning him as guilty in the plot against Jon? I don't think anyone really likes Olly. Well as others have pointed out - it makes sense his part is cast the way it has been and that sympathy for someone other than the crows will help polarize the situation a little bit. If they don't do that with a well known character, the ending won't make sense when it all goes down. Jon's basically asking Olly to do what he himself will not be able to do (forgive the murderers of your family). The irony of that won't be lost on anyone now that they've created Olly - who didn't exist in the books. In the books we had tons more plot development and Jon's political situation built up for awhile before the big climax and FTW. In the show we don't have time for that so Olly is a plot pushing device. I do get it and appreciate it even if I don't feel much sympathy for the kid.
