It's getting where one could made a documentary about goat farming for 500 dollars and make 500 million in China! I think it's more a proclivity towards robot movies there tbh. It is interesting though that blockbusters don't really even have to do well in the US anymore a lot of the time now. The Chinese market is becoming the target demographic. For instance the recent Furious 7 has done about 1.5 billion dollars, but only 23 % of that is domestic 77% (!) is foreign. 48 % of that , Asia. On topic, a number we never see for GoT is non North American markets, we kinda have an idea about Europe, out side of those , nada.

This was linked on Winter is Coming ( I know...I know...) but it's a follow up to the blind item I linked on here a while ago. The article claims should there be sequels to Terminator, do not expect Emilia back. Execs don't want her back. I don't know how reliable Dish Nation is, so take it for what it is worth. If this is true, I find it gross she's getting the blame for this not doing so well in the US and if she gets dumped, then so should Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke. Article

I'll only believe that when there's an announcement to that effect. I don't think they'd be so irrational as to blame her for the movie.

I don't think it's entirely her fault because sequels and remakes usually aren't as good as the originals and based off the first trailer, it just looked horrendous and cringe-worthy. It seems like Emilia's personality off-screen is entirely different because she appears funny and cute in interviews and at premieres, but then onscreen she's a bit stiff. Yet, she has 2 upcoming films so I guess we'll see if her acting improves. Though her last scene in Season 5 where she is just acting with CGI Drogon, it's weird that she kind of sounds genuine and effortless in her delivery.

I have been searching the net for a story from more reliable source than Dish Nation (never heard of them) and it's either a re-tread of what they are saying but nothing from the more legit movie sites yet. Since the movie opened really well in China, this one might be like Pacific Rim where China earns it a sequel. I am with you konradsmith, I'll believe it when it's announced by an exec and if it turns out to be true, I better be hearing Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke aren't back as well because that's unfair to Emilia.

So, those who have seen it, is it worth seeing? I planned to, but then other things have come out that I wanted to see more.

The Chinese just guaranteed there is gonna be sequels Seems so. That's why a lot of blockbusters include Chinese product placement now and try to set a scene or two in Shanghai while they're at it. They know what side their bread is buttered on.

They should have gone the Planet of the Apes route and made a prequel that leads into the events of the original Terminator where Kyle isn't John Connor's father yet, (IE John has a different dad that has to be protected and Kyle fails) starting with a fresh slate, rather than going into the convoluted problems of the timeline being rewritten 3, 4 times - whatever it is.

Is that how you explain the father thing? I assumed that John Connor's father was always Kyle Reese and that it's a paradox that can't be solved like the time stuff in Lost.

They know what side their bread is buttered on. At least they didn't shamelessly plug China like Michael Bay did in his last Transformers movie...

Just to update: Pacific Rim 2 is on indefinite hold with Pitch Perfect 3 taking it's date. Del Toro says it's not on hold but I think the studio disagrees. Since China was thought to guarantee this one a sequel, I thought it was applicable here. Initially the Hollywood Reporter stated that the Terminator franchise is on hold. One of the producers came out and said it's not on hold, we are "readjusting" The sequels obviously will not make their planned release dates of 2017 and 2019 In other words: they will look for new script writer(s), new director and new cast except for Arnold at some point in time.

Honestly Arnold is the one that should go. Terminator was one of his best roles, and no one could replace him but they should just get another terminator.
Emilia did a good job i reckon so i think it'd be pretty bad if they replace her because other things in the movie weren't as good.

I'm pretty sure the Emilia rumour is false. What I've heard most recently is they've indefinitely stopped developing sequels for it. So it's not just her that's being blamed.

Emilia did a good job i reckon You are entitled to your opinion. i don't think she was better than linda hamilton, i mean commeeeee onnnnn, but she wasn't bad. Not at all really. I think people just judge her because she's hot and not 'manly' enough for the role.
