The other thing that isn't looking too good for Terminator (being a big budget movie) is possibly finishing third behind Inside Out (in it's 3rd week of release) and Jurassic World (in it's 4th week of release). I'll be curious what the final numbers are for this weekend when they are released later today or tomorrow if there is a holiday delay, July 4th is usually an important one for the studios.... Speaking of blind items...here is one that is supposed to be referring to Emilia Clarke and her future in the Terminator movies, should there be more: Studio suits unhappy with actress's performanceSpeaking of Tom Hardy, I don't doubt that he had a physical altercation with the director on The Reverant. Tom had to drop his role in Suicide Squad (replaced by Joel Kinnamen) because The Reverant filming ran over. He has admitted that he is difficult to work with and said that he and Charlize Theron didn't exactly get a long on the set of Mad Max and he gave her a gift when shooting was done as an apology. Also Shia La Beouf supposedly punched him out on the set of Lawless. Hardy has never refuted that story, which makes me think it's true.

Emilia's delivery in the trailer were pretty cringe-worthy. I'd have to agree that she was miscast, but not as badly as Jai Courtney, wtf? He can't light Michael Biehn's cigarette. So yeah, this reboot is off to a bad start with miscasts of the two most important characters, I'd be surprised if this movie gets sequels. The studio doesn't know what the hell to do with the franchise. This is the 2nd failed reboot in a row. Honestly, since we are speaking of Tom Hardy here...why not cast him as Kyle Reese? At least he is charismatic and can act. I give Hardy credit for acknowledging the Shia knockout. Honestly, I would have expected Hardy to be the one to win a fight between the two!

This is the bullshit I was mentioning earlier. I know I said Kit has a dick so he'd be fine as a joke, but it is still 100% true. Emilia's reviews for this film have been pretty crap, but they have not been the worst. Jai Courtney has been torn apart and this is not the first time that this has happened to him. In pretty much every big role he's had, he's been a gigantic fucking flop critically and for some reason the Hollywood execs are still willing to give him a chance but are planning on firing Emilia before the film's first weekend in release is over? BRB, FUMING

Even if she was a miscast. I was just reading Deadline and the movie will make about $130m worldwide for these five days, so they'll eventually make their money back.

Oh, it is very typical of Hollywood. The women are always scrutinised. Look at Jennifer Lawrence: in spite of being both a critical (Oscar, BAFTA, GGx2, SAG, LAFCA, NYFCC, NSFC winner) and financial (THG trilogy, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) success, the fact that she is getting paid $20m for Passengers has been the focus of much media attention and there have been many think-pieces about it. But Chris Pratt is getting $15m when his only financial success at the time was GotG (and I guess the Lego Movie, but that was a voice performance so I'm not giving it the same stock value) which made less than all 3 of the HG movies domestically and no fucks were given. And you have flops like Johnny Depp who still pull in $20m pay packets, even though he hasn't had a hit since the last PotC. On the bright side, things are changing, but slowly. With Lawgend again, the revelation that she and Amy Adams got a smaller back end than Jeremy fucking Renner caused a bit of a shitstorm, and quite rightly so. Amy was the female lead (and higher billed than JRen) and JLaw was the focus of approx. 70% of the marketing material for the movie so she should have got a higher cut of the proceeds than she did. But whatever, that's Hollywood for you.

I am not surprised that it will make it's money back with the worldwide gross. @fireandblood, I agree with you. I don't get why Jai Courtney is in every big blockbuster movie, gets crucified by the critics and still gets cast. He must have some fantastic agent. As for Emilia, it sounds like there are a lot of problems with Terminator and yes, she was miscast, but she is not the reason why the movie is getting slammed by the critics and why the US audiences are not flocking to it en masse. Again, it is a blind item and I don't even know how true it really is. I find it hard to believe that they'd replace her for a potential sequel after having her and Arnold promote this movie world wide. I do think what she has going for her is the fact this movie will make it's money back world wide and she still has GoT and other movies coming out after this one. Even if the studio decides no sequel to this, I think having those other movies and GoT will help. She's rumored to be under consideration for the role of Queen Victoria in an 8 part ITV miniseries (so are Lily James, Jenna Coleman, Cara Delevigne and Chloe Moretz)...it sounds like it would be good role for her, even though out of the actresses considered, I think Lily James has the best skills for it. Admin, Hardy made the right choice taking Mad Max over this but it sounds like he would have vastly improved this movie performance wise.

I retract everything I said about this movie.
It was REALLY bad
Really bad
It basically reboots the franchise (kind of), which is depressing, not just because it erased a lot of the older stuff, but because they are gonna make more of these...
Fuuuuuuuuuu...
You dont spend nearly thirty years building in a certain direction and then curve ball this way! Dafuq? Damnit. Should have ended this shit after T2.

Judging by the box office, I wouldn't be so sure they're making more of these, at least not in this continuity.

Not sure what the second weekend worldwide is doing for it. Minions is looking at 120 million plus in the US this weekend. Terminator is looking like it's finishing 4th behind Inside Out and Jurassic World.

I think they have some sort of deal or contract or something like that because I saw a bunch of people talking about the company going ahead with sequels in spite of bad numbers

^Maybe they're still expecting it to make money in China or something.

I don't even know what to say to that. As @konradsmith said maybe they are waiting on China? I think China was the country that actually made Pacific Rim profitable with a potential of a sequel (don't know if it will happen given how busy Guillermo Del Toro and Charlie Hunnam are on other projects...).

I wont even bother watching any sequels that come out of this. Its not getting any better. If anything, the sequels will probably erase everything that happened in this movie Were I Emilia, I wouldnt want anything to do with any sequels. Nothing against her, but this role isnt working for her. Shes not believable as Sarah Connor. I havent heard anyone who thinks she works in the role either.

Clarke is not Omar Sharif or even Alicia Silverstone. She'd do well to take whatever parts come her way while the GOT wave is still cresting.

It's getting where one could made a documentary about goat farming for 500 dollars and make 500 million in China!

It is interesting though that blockbusters don't really even have to do well in the US anymore a lot of the time now. The Chinese market is becoming the target demographic.
