Yeah the Flynn aspirations were thinly wailed in this one I did kinda like Ani as an adult because in the end she finally did the right thing. Also the whole way she just turned everything around was fun to read, but the most exciting thing was the pivotal chapter, I wonder if they are gonna pull it off in the adaptation I wonder how they're going to pull off her in a film. It's not like she has a "Cool girl" speech to get people to see her POV. I can't see many people enjoying watching her for 2 hours. lol I really think that Knoll also took liberties from Laura Lippman's book To The Power of Three as well. At least with the teenage chapters. They felt similar at times, only Lippman is a better writer. I'm sure there is gonna be a shitload of narrating in that movie I'm interested to see who they pick for the role, anyone other than someone naturally skinny would be cruel towards the actress, she would actually have to starve herself like the character

That has to be an original character. I don't remember any of Tom's co-workers being discussed. I'm not really a fan of Kudrow. As for Luckiest Girl Alive - I can see a model actually being cast as Ani. Think Rosie Huntington-Whitley or something. They have to be really thin since that's what Ani obsesses over 24/7.

I was thinking Abbey Lee who played The Dag in Fury Road. For me she was the best out of the models actresses there and she seems to have actual acting talent Rosie's biggest accomplishment is banging Jason Statham imho

The Winter King, by Bernard Cornwell. First in his Warlokrd Chronicles. Very good first impression It is a different animal. A good one though. Books were captivating for me and I think he writes this tales well. His Merlin and Guinevere are little gems. Spins some parts of the Arthurian legends on its head. Lancelot for example. I fucking hated his take on him, because you know, when one grows up with everything Arthurian in a certain way, one tends to be completely biased and frankly completely unable to accept this version of the Lancelot character. (that would be me) I will let myself out now...

Seriously his Merlin is amazing ahh I love that trilogy so much His optioned it to TV actually, to a production company Bad Wolf that is connected to HBO. We might be lucky enough to see an adaptation of his Warlord Chronicles. I read that a few days ago in Variety.

Reading three books at the moment:
Just started re-reading the ASoIaF series -- almost to the end of "Game of Thrones." I'm trying to get the whole series re-read before season 6 comes out. My memory is terrible and I'm discovering a lot of things I missed the first time around.
"The Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling's pen name). This is book 1 in the Cormoran Strike detective novels and I am really digging it. I started reading it upon recommendation of a fellow Rory McCann fan who said she had envisioned Rory playing Cormoran, so now I'm picturing him as the detective, too.
"Carrying Albert Home" by Homer Hickam, author of "Rocket Boys" (made into the movie "October Sky"). Homer is a fellow West Virginian -- I met him a couple months ago and he is a really nice and funny guy. This book is the "mostly true" story of his parents during the Great Depression and their trip from West Virginia to return a pet alligator (Albert) to his home in Florida. It is, at turns, sweet, funny, and bizarre.

i haven't finished it yet, but nearly finished reading "The eye in the door" by Pat Barker.
i picked it up randomly, but i was surprised at how interesting it became. It explores homosexuality and the irish/english rivalry during the first world war (i believe). I just found out its part of a 'regeneration' series and its #2, that would explain a few things. It explores the human psyche and effects of war on soldiers. I would actually recommend it highly. i thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm going to start re-reading a trilogy I read more than 12 years ago. It's a fantasy called the Sevenwater Trilogy, the books are The Daughter of the Forrest, Son of Shadows and the Child of the Prophecy. I thought they were very good when I read them ,let's see if they stand up to time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sevenwaters_Trilogy

Just finished a book by my friend and former writing group partner, Keija Parssinen, The Unraveling of Mercy Louis. So weird to read something by someone I know personally. I thought it was very good, not quite great, but the characters are so very compelling. And I just finished another book that is truly formally brilliant, How To Be Both, by Ali Smith.

Still reading Bleak House, which as with all of Dickens' work (I'm a big fan) is a pleasure to read. Got The Rising by Ian Tregillis as a birthday gift though, and because I lack any willpower at all I've dived straight in. This series is fucking great! (A huge thanks to my friend who recommended The Mechanical to me in the first place). So, reading them both together. The Rising www.amazon.com/The-Rising-Alchemy-Wars/dp/0316248010
