I give it a 6. At least it's over next week.
Pros:
Conleth Hill - his acting in his few scenes this episode were really great. I loved his last lines of "I hope I was wrong and I deserve this". I just wish they would have utilised him over the past three seasons rather than just randomly having him pop up last episode and start scheming again. Varys was a little too open with his treason.. which isn't really what I expect of the Master of Whispers, nor the Spider, but at least it wasn't a Littlefinger style of events leading to, or mode of, his death.
Lena Heady - she was fantastic in this episode. I can't believe I was actually feeling sorry for Cersei losing the war. Seeing her cry in the Red Keep and give her hand to Qyburn was beautiful - showing how powerless and helpless she was. Her ending scenes with Jaime was, whilst underwhelming, really well acted. The "please don't let me die" and "I just want our child to live" were beautiful. I just wish the pacing was better as others have said - Jaime going from Brienne immediately back to Cersei was so rushed. If the last two seasons were 10 episodes long, it could have worked I guess. I really loved the parallels with Cersei after she blew up the Sept of Baelor - looking out over the city, previously smiling and drinking wine, now crying and retreating. I also loved the use of Light of the Seven in similar scenes.
Rory McCann - everything he was in, in this episode was amazing. It was so heartwarming to finally hear Arya call him Sandor and thank him. I am glad he got his revenge and went out in such a badass way. Gregor's unmasked face was disgusting.
Cons
Dany - her just randomly snapping even though the bells were ringing. Did she forget what the bells signify? Jokes aside, it just felt so random and rushed. I feel like they could have saved one of the Dany related deaths for this episode. Say she sees Jorah be killed by a Lannister soldier after they 'surrender' or Missandei is beheaded after the bells ring, and then I could see her going on said rampage. But her just randomly going off? Eh. She's wanted this for so long and it's now within her grasp, sure, but I don't think that would make her butcher so many innocents.
Arya's plot armour - how many fake outs did we get? Two? And she just walks away from a building almost falling directly on top of her and being in the line of dragon fire? Yawn. Maybe next week she'll hide in a rubbish bin a la Glenn from The Walking Dead. Also the random horse at the end, lol. I was sort of half-hoping it would freak out and just kick her and that be the fatal blow, to subvert our expectations, but whatever.
I can't remember if they included it in the show, but Tysha seemed to be completely ignored in Tyrion's whole "you were the only one who was ever nice to me" talk to Jaime when he freed him.
I'll probably update this later with more thoughts as I process the episode, but very disappointed currently.
