Batman v Superman had issues, and the biggest one was Jesse fucking Eisenberg. Apparently, he's usually a good actor, but I see none of that here. I am unsure how much of it is the script's fault, because ~in my opinion~ the writing for Luthor seemed solid. Yes, it was a departure from previous iterations. This one was more of a nervous, nerdy kid with daddy issues who grew up resentful of men in power. He seems to have delusions of grandeur, and thinks he's smarter than everyone else (he probably is). I see some schizophrenic-ness, there, as well, with the talking to himself and creepy ticks. On paper, that all sounds fine.
But somehow, we ended up with this.
This was too overacted, too arch, too mustache-twirling-villain. ugh jesse eisenberg is BLOCKEDT!!!

I watched Latter Days last night, which is a gay themed movie from 2003. I've seen it a couple times, it's not amazing, but it has some really good scenes and decent acting.
There is one particular scene that I really love, it's when one of the main characters, Christian, talks about something that happened to him in his youth, when he was struggling with his sexuality. I've always loved that scene, it speaks to me on many different levels.

kingeomer Yes, they are. I probably won't watch it. Aside from X1, X2, and Logan, I've hated all the other X-Men films. Basil I like Latter Days! It feels dated for a movie only show in the early 2000's but I really liked the relationship between the two leads.

Ugh, stuff of nightmares. The X-Men films have become messy and so awful. Seems like they don't have a clue what to do with them. (Except Logan. Yay Logan!) And sorry to her fans but Sophie was awful in Apocalypse. Like, even in such an awful film I was aware of how bad the acting was (not that she was alonene in that ofc). Really they should just do an entire film of Quicksilver special effect scene

Really they should just do an entire film of Quicksilver special effect scene The X-Men films need to be taken out of Singer and Kinberg's hands, so they can be actually rebooted by someone with a new vision that can make something different with them. Fist Class was not perfect, but it had its own style and tried new things. Is a pity they didn't use DOFP as a send-off for Singer and co. too and to start over. I hope Maisie does well in the New Mutants film, the Scottish accent may be a problem, but otherwise she is a very talented actress and I'm sure she'll do a fine job.

Does Maisie actually have to do a Scottish accent? Rose Byrne's character is Scottish in the comics but she didn't have an accent at all.

Sophie's a mediocre actress, and she was dreadful in Apocalypse. I really hope they don't do a Dark Phoenix movie focusing on her.

I really hope they don't do a Dark Phoenix movie focusing on her.sorry to disappoint you, but that's pretty much confirmed at this point I have a soft spot for Sophie. I don't think she's like an incredible actress, but I think she's really good most of the time, she's also super pretty, and I really liked her in Apocalypse. I didn't love the movie, but that wasn't her fault.

I enjoyed Apocalypse, but I habit of getting shitfaced drunk when watching the X-Men movies because I know I won't be able to follow them anyway.

I saw both Colossal and Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 this week. I liked Colossal better, but both were good. (though GOTG was messy)
