Game of Thrones is literally the only successful show they have. I bet that if D&D wanted to do 12 seasons, HBO would sign a contract right now.

Silicon Valley and Veep do pretty well for 1/2 comedies. It's a shame about Vinyl, but I really think they shot themselves in the foot with that two hour premiere. That's not how you draw people into your show, it was too long.

The show was just mediocre, at best. Not suprised at all Winter left.

The show was okay, but I really liked the cast.

I feel bad for Cannavale, Wilde and Temple. Also wow how embarrassing for HBO. They really don't have anything now and sci-fi/period pieces mixes don't usually fare well

Netflix and Amazon have em by the short hairs. fortune.com/2016/06/22/hbo-vinyl-cancellationHBO / BBC have the option on I, Claudius. A non stage bound version of this would be a logical extension of ROME with great drama and plenty of T and A! One notes that HBO has said they regretted canning ROME because it had 'legs' in the DVD department and video life in streaming. I know I would love to see more of 'ROME' , I absolute loved 2005 - 2007 production.

Such high quality TV and they just cancelled those Not that Showtime is any better, they are famous for promising shows which turn to shit by 3rd or 4th season, but Amazon and Netflix will easily win with them once GoT is gone

American Gods would have been a good fit for HBO but Starz got that one. And HBO should have given Carnivale, Rome and Deadwood more time. They gotta hope that Westeworld lives up to it's promo promise. Not surprised that Vinyl was out and out cancelled, especially with Winter exiting the series. I feel for the actors because some of them were turning in some really good performances. I do think if someone could have worked on the weaker parts of Vinyl, they could have had a stronger second season.
